    East Yorkshire tennis player Kyle Edmund is back in the world's top 50 players after coming close to reaching his first major final.

    Edmund reached the semi-finals of the Vienna Open before losing in three sets to Frenchman Lucas Pouille.

    Despite the defeat, Edmund has risen 13 places in the rankings.

    A Hornsea man is calling on people in the town to help him create a huge advent calendar.

    Chris Clarke wants people living between the United Reformed Church and the seafront to create window displays which will be revealed one day at a time between 1 December and Christmas Day.

    Mr Clarke says he needs three more people to volunteer and then this festive project can go ahead.

    A "substantial" amount of cash has been stolen during a robbery at a bank in Hull.

    The robbery happened at the Yorkshire Bank on Prospect Street at about 13:00 this afternoon.

    Police say two men threatened staff and stole a large amount of money.

    The thieves then left the area on foot. No-one was hurt during the robbery.

    Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is being asked to contact police.

    People living on a holiday park near Beverley and who are facing eviction are to have their case raised in the European Parliament.

    The East Yorkshire MEP Jane Collins says evicting the chalet owners on Lakeminster Park is a potential breach of human rights.

    Developer William Flannigan was accused of mis-selling the retirement homes, but the trial collapsed in April.

    In July, residents lost their legal challenge to overturn a planning inquiry's finding which said the properties were built without permission.

    A secret flashmob erupted in the middle of this weekend's Grimsby Town match against Cambridge United, much to the delight of the 4,000 fans at the stadium:

  10. Girl, 16, in court on attempted murder chargepublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    A 16-year-old girl has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a school welfare worker in Scunthorpe.

    Aftermath

    Joy Simon, 61, was attacked in an office at Winterton Community Academy on Monday 25 September.

    The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Hull Crown court earlier.

    No plea was entered and another hearing is scheduled for 27 November.

    The trial is set for 11 December.

  11. Search for two men following attempted burglarypublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    CCTV images of two men wanted in connection with an attempted burglary near Goole have been issued by police.

    They were captured on camera at a house on Heck and Pollington Lane in Pollington on 17 October.

    Anyone with information about their identities, or who has any other information, is being asked to contact Humberside Police.

  12. Hull City boss calls on fans not to disrupt gamepublished at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    Hull manager Leonid Slutsky has urged fans not to disrupt matches as the team tries to climb the Championship table.

    Balls were thrown onto the pitch during their 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest as a protest against the club's owners.

    Many supporters threw tennis balls onto the pitch after 19 minutes and four seconds, to mark the year the club was formed, and to show their continuing unhappiness with owner Assem Allan and his son and vice-chairman Ehab Allam.

    Plans for a multi-million pound redevelopment of part of the Fruit Market quarter in Hull Marina have been submitted to Hull City Council.

    As part of the application by developers Wykeland Beal, about £1.2m would be spent on restoring the three floors of 61-63 Humber Street, currently Hull's Fruit arts venue.

    It also includes a £2.3m of development at the rear of that site.

    If given the go-ahead, the plans would see the creation of a paved outdoor performance area and gathering place within a courtyard at the rear of Fruit.

    The last remaining smokehouse in the centre of Hull would also be brought back into use as a pop-up bar and street food venue.

    The head of Siemens says businesses in Lincolnshire and the rest of the country need to embrace technology to be successful in the future.

    Juergen Maier (pictured) says advanced digital technologies, including robotics and artificial intelligence, can create jobs and boost the economy.

    It comes as the Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership recently revealed there's been a 20% rise in the number of high-tech firms in the county.

    What's described as the very best of Yorkshire tourism is being celebrated at the annual White Rose Awards in Leeds this evening.

    Among the finalists from our area are both Bridlington and the Humber Bridge's Tourism information Centres, Tickton Grange and Burton Constable Hall.

    It's been given the go-ahead by star of the film Dan Aykroyd, Sony Pictures and the estate of Harold Ramis, who played Dr Egon Spengler in the movie.

    A review of how patient transport is run in North Lincolnshire is due to be held today, with the council's scrutiny panel examining the service run by the Thames Ambulance Service.

    There has been a dispute between Thames Ambulance and its volunteer drivers as new rules means drivers won't be paid for fuel on the way to their first job or returning from their last.

    It has meant a number of volunteer drivers have stopped transporting patients to and from appointments.

    Some patients using the service have told BBC Look North they've been left waiting hours for people to pick them up from appointments.

    Thames Ambulance says the changes were needed in order to put the terms and conditions in line with other drivers at the company.
