    BBC Local Live

More than a quarter of 50 to 64-year-olds in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire are struggling to find a job.

A new report shows this age group is experiencing an "unemployment trap" and employers prefer young people.

Tow people at the job center.

Andrea is 55 and has been looking for a job for six months. She says the advances in modern technology is leaving her generation behind.

    Quote Message

I find technology is a big hurdle for me... Even though I've done IT courses it's not second nature to me. My generation is never going to use technology in the same way young people do. I've tried to be self employed but you need to be good with social media."

Andrew from Leeds is 50 and is looking for a job:

    Quote Message

It's a lot harder because employers want to go for younger people even though they have less experience... but it may be because they don't have to pay them as much."

Martin retired at 50 and is a volunteer. He believes his generation has a lot to offer:

    Quote Message

It's extremely difficult to get a job but you are almost unemployable once you get to 50. There are a lot of people in their 50's and 60's who have a lot to offer an employer.

    Theatre sign

A petition has now been started by Peter Abraham to get rid of the £1.50 charge per ticket.

    Quote Message

If you go to the box office to pick up the tickets yourself there shouldn't be a charge... because you don't have postage to pay. Also if it's a block booking there shouldn't be more than one charge for it."
