    Traders have been told the increasing number of people sleeping rough in Cleethorpes' main shopping area will be dealt with.

    Shop owners on St Peter's Avenue have raised concerns about the number of people who are now sleeping out overnight.

    Humberside Police, external say they are working with North East Lincolnshire Council to tackle the issue.

    Ch Supt Christine Wilson said the local policing team would be looking at a working group involving residents and shopkeepers.

  3. Rail passengers face price risepublished at 08:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Rail passengers across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire will see an increase in rail fares from today.

    Both Northern, external and Transpennine, external are putting their prices up by just under 5% on average.

    Nationally it's the biggest fare increase since 2013.

    Industry bosses promise money raised will go straight into investment programmes.

    Paul Barnfield, from Northern, says he believes passengers are already feeling the benefits of previous rises.

    In our December timetable change we saw a significant uplift in terms of our Sunday service and we have refurbished about 70 of our own trains. That work is continuing. We are implementing free wi-fi and our timetable change in May will see an uplift in weekday services."
