  2. Watch: Farage had 'moment of madness'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2018

    Yorkshire and Lincolnshire's UKIP MEP has described Nigel Farage's comments on a second referendum on Brexit as a "moment of madness"

    It comes after Mr Farage warned that the country must be prepared for another vote on whether to remain as part of the European Union or leave.

    Remain supporters say it shows growing support for a second referendum but Mike Hookem who's the MEP for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire has dismissed the idea.

    Humberside police say the eastbound carriageway of the A63 in Hull is now moving very busy tailbacks.

    They go onto say 'Westbound it is extremely busy. Traffic is bumper to bumper moving very slowly.'

    Latest from Humberside Police: 'Regarding Myton Bridge, we have now been advised that the barriers are stuck in the down position and an engineer has been called out by the relevant agency. Patrol colleagues are trying to put diversions in place now.'

  6. Travel: Myton Bridge 'broken'published at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2018

    Inspector Kirsty Tock from Humberside Police says the Myton Bridge in Hull is "broken."

    She went onto say "Tailbacks on A63, Ferensway and Beverley Road. All staff are working to clear Castle Street and the immediate area. Please avoid the city centre and expect major delays."

    Christopher tweeted BBC Radio Humberside this picture saying that he had been stuck in traffic for at least 25 minutes.

    The Myton Bridge has failed to close so is causing delays.

    Hull City Council say they are 'working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue. Please use alternative routes.'

    In Hull the Myton Bridge (A63) has failed and is still open to river traffic.

    Expect long delays.

    There are long queues on the A63 in Hull.

    Humberside police say 'We are getting calls regarding traffic backing up from the Myton Bridge in Hull (in both directions). Looking at CCTV this is because the bridge is open allowing shipping traffic into and out of the River Hull. Please be patient.'

    A man has been arrested and released under investigation after a suspected arson in Cleethorpes.

    The fire happened on Park Street at around 7.30 pm in the town.

    A drainpipe on a building was set alight, the fire then spread to a lawnmower and garden furniture.

    Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze and no-one was hurt.

    A man from Hull has been celebrating his 90th birthday on the ten pin bowling lanes - showing his younger opponents how it's done.

    John Bryan has been bowling in the city for almost 60 years - and shows no signs of hanging up his shoes any time soon.

  13. Former vicar pleads not guilty to historical sex offencespublished at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2018

    A former East Yorkshire vicar has pleaded not guilty to historical sex offences.

    Reverend Terence Grigg used minister at St Mary's Church in Cottingham.

    He denies 11 charges of indecent and sexual assault, between the 1970s and early 90s.

    He's due to stand trial in July.

  15. Lifeguards wanted for Lincolnshire coastpublished at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2018

    The RNLI is advertising for lifeguards to spend the summer working on beaches , externalalong the Lincolnshire coast.

    Lifeguards patrol more than 240 beaches around the UK and Channel Islands.

    The charity is also recruiting fundraisers who will work alongside lifeguards to provide safety advice.

    Applicants need to be 'dynamic' and act as a 'positive ambassador.'

  16. Gallery to move artwork back after Turner Prizepublished at 12:31 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2018

    The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull will close temporarily between Monday 22 and Friday 26 January to reinstate its permanent collection which was moved to allow for Turner Prize 2017 exhibition.

    The Turner Prize in Hull was attended by more than 116,000 visitors.

    Lubaina Himid became the oldest winner of the Turner Prize, and the first black woman to pick up the art award.

    The 63-year-old Zanzibar-born, Preston-based artist won the £25,000 prize for work addressing racial politics and the legacy of slavery.

    The UKIP MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, Mike Hookem says comments Nigel Farage made about a second EU referendum are attention-seeking.

    Mr Farage says he's close to backing another vote to end the "whinging and whining" of remain campaigners.

    Mr Hookem says Mr Farage's comments are 'madness.'

    Mr Farage told Channel 5's The Wright Stuff a fresh vote could "kill off" the Remain campaign for a generation.

  18. Gang attack woman on mobility scooterpublished at 11:44 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2018

    A gang of youths attacked a woman on a mobility scooter in Hull, police have revealed.

    The gang confronted the woman, 64, and tried to drag her from her scooter while kicking and hitting her.

    It happened on Endyke Lane around 18:30 on 6 January.

    Police released the details of the incident today.

    The woman, who was also verbally abused, suffered bruising to her cheeks and legs.
