Nadhim Zahawi, who was promoted to the role of Children's Minister two weeks ago, says he left the Presidents' Club Dinner early and finds the reports of lewd behaviour "shocking".

But the Labour MP for Hull West and Hessle, Emma Hardy, is one of many MPs to raise concerns in the Commons:

    Quote Message

Cyclists could be banned from a stretch of road regarded by some as the "the jewel in the crown" of time trial racing.

    cycle ban

Highways England has applied for a Traffic Regulation Order to stop cyclists using the A63 between Hull and North Cave over safety concerns.

The road forms part of the v718 time trial course, a 10-mile route seen as one of the fastest in the country.

Humberside Police say they've had concerns about competitive cycling events on the road "for some time":

  19. Watch: Cyclists reject A63 ban proposalpublished at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

Highways bosses say they want to ban cyclists from using a major dual carriageway through East Yorkshire as a cycling event racecourse.

The police are worried about safety after a series of accidents, including one in which a man died.

The 15-mile stretch of the A63, between Hull and North Cave, has a reputation as one of the fastest time trial courses in the sport - and Bradley Wiggins has competed on it recently.

Cycling groups insist safety concerns are exaggerated and the road is safe.

Bike shop owner Ed Neilson believes the time course is actually a jewel in the cycling crown:

The success of a unique project which recorded the birth of babies born during Hull's year as City of Culture is being celebrated today.

    Baby Feet artwork

Throughout 2017, babies born in the city had impressions of their feet taken by midwives which were then displayed at the Hull Women and Children's Hospital.

Funds raised from today's event will go towards improving patient experiences on the maternity wards.

    Quote Message

The project has been a brilliant addition to what is already a moment of celebration, welcoming new babies into the world. What I loved about it was its inclusivity, it gave people who wouldn't ordinarily see culture or art as 'their thing' be part of Hull’s brilliant year."
