    A student studying in Leeds who was caught up in the Manchester Arena bomb attack is to run a half marathon to raise money for the victims.

    Bridie O’Hare was in the arena on the night of the attack on 22 May last year - 22 people died and 116 were injured after the suicide bombing.

    The 19-year-old from Cleethorpes studies history at Leeds Beckett University and will run the Sheffield Half Marathon in April.

    A Hull City supporters group has confirmed they will be protesting at the match against Sheffield United on Friday night.

    In a statement, Hull City Action for Change say that some fans will be blowing whistles in unison in the 30th minute of the game as a form of protest against the club's owners.

    They stress that before and after the 30th minute they don't want any whistles to be blown.

    The protest is part of a long-running dispute between some supporters and the owners over a number of issues, including calls for the club to offer concessions for OAPs and children.

    GPs in our region are under such pressure it's likely a quarter of them have felt unwell in the past year due to stress, it's claimed.

    The claim comes from the co-author of a new textbook advising GPs how to deal with their workload.

    Author Dr Euan Lawson is warning that we are facing a continuing GP shortage.

    He says more than half of GPs want to leave the profession and there are few medical students who want to train up as family doctors.

    Yorkshire have signed Australia international fast bowler Billy Stanlake for the 2018 T20 Blast.

    The 23-year-old, who at 6ft 8in is the tallest player to ever represent his country, is set to play a minimum of 12 games for the Vikings.

    The paceman helped Australia win the Trans-Tasman Twenty20 tri-series against New Zealand on Wednesday.

    "It'll be a great experience and hopefully an exciting few weeks," he said.

    "It's a huge club with great history and tradition and I've only heard positive things from the guys who have been there in the past."

    The East Riding of Yorkshire Council it to contact the company asking them to bear in mind the regeneration work taking place in the resort before they make a final decision on the future of the branch.

    East Riding councillor Richard Harrap says Bridlington's high street will move forward and he hopes Marks and Spencer can be part of it.

    Hull City Council has confirmed it has finally acquired all the buildings around the Albion Square site which it has earmarked for a multi-million pound scheme.

    The plans include a new ice arena, shops and apartments.

    The BHS building has been empty for over a year since the retailer went into liquidation.

    A collection of dramatic photographs showing a perilous Antarctic expedition will go on display at the Hull Maritime Museum.

    The Enduring Eye exhibition shows pictures taken by photographer Frank Hurley during the dangerous Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1914-1917 led by Sir Ernest Shackleton.

    It will be on show from 3 March until June.

    Council tax is likely to rise in North East Lincolnshire as councillors meet to vote on the budget.

    That would be a rise of almost two per cent in the council tax base and an additional three per cent to pay for adult social care.

    The leader of North East Lincolnshire Council Ray Oxby says budgets are tight for local authorities.

    Lecturers at the University of Hull will walk out this morning because they are unhappy over changes to their pensions.

    Members of the University and College Union are striking for 14 days over the next month.

    The University College Union claims the proposed changes could leave a typical lecturer almost £10,000 a year worse off.

    The University of Hull says it will remain open and will continue to provide teaching and services to its students during the strike action.

    The Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council says he will not be seeking re-election next year.

    Stephen Parnaby is the longest-serving council leader in Yorkshire and will have been the East Riding’s leader for 23 years by May 2019.

    He was previously the leader of Beverley Borough Council from 1991 until it was abolished in a local government re-organisation in 1996.

    He was awarded the OBE for his services to local government in the Queen’s New Year Honours List in 2008.

    He says the time is right to move on.

    You might think a broken limb, or a blow to the head qualifies but how about blackheads and false nails?

    No? Well, people have been turning up at Hull Royal Infirmary’s A&E department to ask staff to remove acrylic nails and squeeze their blackheads.

    It's true! There's now a video revealing the non-medical requests emergency frontline teams have to deal with.
