Stress-related sickness rising among East Riding teacherspublished at 08:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2018
East Riding's teachers took a total of 5,156 days off in 2016 to 2017 due to stress and mental health problems.
There were 106 teachers off for more than a month each, that's up 39% on the previous year.
The figures come from a Freedom of Information (FoI) request submitted by the Liberal Democrats.
Lib Dem Councillor Denis Healy says excessive workloads are damaging teacher's wellbeing and mental health and is asking the East Riding Council to write to the government.
