    Hull City Council say the four most common items that people put in their blue bins - and shouldn't - are nappies, clothes, food and bags of waste.

    Bankside is a busy "rat-run" into the city centre and it's being closed for three months to allow flood defence work to take place.

    The £36.5m work by the environment agency aims to protect 60,000 homes and businesses in the area.

    This morning, Stagecoach reported its buses were being delayed by up to an hour.

    The closure means there's no access to Bankside from Clough Road to Air Street, but businesses in the area remain open.

    An 11-year-old boy has been punched in the face and had his bike stolen, external in Hull.

    It happened at about 17:30 on Saturday at St George Playing Field on Massey Street.

    Three boys aged between 12 and 16 assaulted the boy before stealing his black Zombie BMX bike with white writing and orange handlebars and seat.

    The bike has Magg wheels with plastic spokes.

    Police are appealing for information.

    Hull City head coach Nigel Adkins admits that he will have to change the starting 11 every week until the end of the season because of the number of games they've got to play.

    East Yorkshire tennis player Kyle Edmund has pulled out of the ATP event in Rio as he continues his recovery from illness.

    The 23-year-old British number two reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open last month.

    He's expected to return in time for Indian Wells in a fortnight.

    Police are searching for a man who inappropriately touched a teenage girl in Cleethorpes.

    The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when the girl was walking through Cleethorpes Country Park towards Park Lane with her friend.

    A man aged between 40 and 60 approached her and touched her inappropriately and then ran off.

    The girl is shaken and upset but not injured.

    The MP for Great Grimsby has been meeting the Education Secretary to ask him to help keep children with special needs in school.

    Melanie Onn says that last year alone 3,500 school days were lost in North East Lincolnshire, affecting 825 children in the region, many with special educational needs (SEN).

    Statistics from 2016 , externalshowed that children with SEN are seven times more likely to be excluded than those without.

    Grimsby Town is stepping up the search for a new manager this week.

    New work to improve flood defences in Hull caused gridlock in parts of the city this morning.

    Bankside, which is a major rat-run to the city centre, will be shut until May and there is no access from Clough Road to Air Street.

    The Environment Agency is spending £36.5m to reduce flood risks to over 60,000 homes and businesses in the area.

    This morning Stagecoach reported delays of up to an hour for its buses in the Stoneferry area of the city.

    A consultation on plans to ban cycling along the A63 in East Yorkshire has been extended for three weeks because of the level of interest from the public.

    The road attracts top cyclists as it is regarded as the fastest time trial route in the country.

    Highways England says it was contacted by Humberside Police over safety issues on that stretch of road.

    New ways of easing congestion on Hull's roads are being looked at.

    It's as the container terminal at the city's port doubles in size.

    Hull City Council and the University of Hull are developing an app to help logistics companies get to the Port of Hull more easily without having a heavy impact on commuter traffic.

    They are also looking at whether freight could leave the city by either rail or on the Humber in barges.

    The Shadow Housing Minister and Great Grimsby MP Melanie Onn will be discussing the issue of homelessness on the Lincolnshire coast tonight.

    It's after a row broke out at a public meeting where campaigners called for talks over what they claim is a growing number of rough sleepers in Skegness.

    Councils in the area say there is no homeless problem in the town.

    On Saturday, Henry Bolton was sacked after members expressed their lack of faith in his ability to lead the party.

    Mr Hookem says he would be happy to serve his party under the current interim leader MEP Gerard Batten and says he's a good friend of his and he'd be happy to work alongside him in any position.

    Part of Bankside in Hull will be closed to traffic from today until May as work starts to improve flood defences.

    The £36.5m improvements along the River Hull mean a 200m stretch will be closed and diversions will be in place.

    There'll be no access from Clough Road to Air Street but businesses along the road will be open as normal.

    You're being advised to leave yourself extra time for journeys in the area.
