    The weather forecasts are still predicting heavy snow across parts of the region today, particularly in North Lincolnshire and parts of East Yorkshire.

    And it's becoming quite slushy on side roads in parts of the region.

    A warning of snow and very low temperatures remains in place for East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

    The worst of the weather is due to hit in the early hours of tomorrow morning, with snow due to fall from about 03:00.

    East Yorkshire's fleet of gritters has been out making the roads as safe as possible as the region braces itself for forecast heavy snow.

    East Riding of Yorkshire Council is warning people to expect traffic disruption tomorrow morning, especially during rush hour.

    It says more than 1,100 miles of road have been gritted in preparation.

    A man from Grimsby who sparked a police drone search after a crash in Lincolnshire will appear in court charged with with drink-driving and not having insurance.

    The 28-year-old was discovered in a deep ditch off the A16 near Ludborough, Lincolnshire, suffering from hypothermia.

    Police used a thermal-imaging drone to find him after a member of the public found his overturned car.

    Two Humberside Police officers accused of spying on a woman from Halifax whose brother died in custody would have been acting on orders, a misconduct panel has heard.

    Former paratrooper Christopher Alder, 37, died in Hull in 1998. An inquest found he died unlawfully.

    The two officers, who have not been named, appeared at a Humberside Police misconduct hearing in Goole earlier.

    They are accused of gross misconduct over the unauthorised surveillance of Janet Alder (pictured above).

    Mr Alder (pictured above) choked to death while lying face down and unconscious in a pool of blood in a police custody suite as a group of officers stood chatting nearby.

    The officers, referred to only as officer one and two, are accused of carrying out surveillance on Ms Alder and her barrister Leslie Thomas QC on 28 July 2000 "without appropriate authorisation and justification".

    The hearing continues.

    Police investigating an assault and attempted rape in a Hull cemetery have released an e-fit image of a man they want to speak to.

    A 36-year-old woman was attacked at the cemetery on Spring Bank West on 9 September 2017, but managed to escape.

    Humberside Police have made a fresh appeal for information about the attack.

    Doctors in Hull have warned against a new craze which has left three children needing medical help after swallowing magnets.

    A surgeon at Hull Royal Infirmary says children using magnetic ball bearings to mimic body piercings are putting themselves in danger.

    They can cause significant internal damage to bowels and intestines.

    Two children have undergone major surgery as a result of swallowing the magnets, according to Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

    Dr Sanja Besarovic, a paediatric surgeon at Hull Royal Infirmary, said: "We have been able to save these children, but I'm growing increasingly concerned that this is happening more often.

    "Both of the children recovered well after surgery but the next child may not be so lucky."

    Workers at rubbish tips in Hull and East Yorkshire are planning strike action from this Thursday.

    Unison says its members who work at waste recycling centres run by FCC Environment will walk out for seven days in a dispute about wages and sick pay.

    Both Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council say bin collections won't be affected and recycling centres will be open as normal.

    Two Humberside Police officers have denied gross misconduct over surveillance of the sister of a man who died in police custody.

    His sister, Janet Alder was put under surveillance by police in 2000.

    The misconduct hearing in Goole heard that both police officers, who cannot be named, believed they were carrying out a lawful order which would have been given to them by a senior officer.

    The hearing is expected to last five days.

    A lorry driver has been jailed at Grimsby Crown Court for trying to smuggle 76,000 cigarettes into the UK.

    HM Revenue and Customs say the cigarettes were hidden behind the front seats and the sleeping area of the lorry and were worth more than £20,000 in unpaid taxes.

    Przemyslaw Andrzej Schlabs, aged 42, from Poland, has been sentenced to five months in prison after admitting excise fraud.

    A project run by the British Red Cross which helps patients at Hull Royal Infirmary return home sooner is now being extended.

    The Home from Hospital scheme has supported more than 200 patients at the hospital since the new year.

    The Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Hospitals Trust says it will now be extended to Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham.

    The scheme aims to to reduce the number of ambulances transporting patients back to their homes, as well as freeing up hospital beds.

    A woman has been indecently assaulted while helping a man who'd fallen over in the street, say police.

    Humberside Police say the incident was reported on Orwell Street on Saturday evening.

    They say the attack happened after the man chased the woman down the street after she'd stopped to help him.

    Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is being asked to contact police.

    A woman has been injured in an assault in Hull, say Humberside Police.

    It happened outside the New Empress Pub, on Hessle Road, at about 19:45 on Saturday evening.

    Officers say they'd like to speak to two men who helped the woman and took her home in their car.

    A 64-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation.
