His luggage was found inside his cabin but there was no sign of him.
He was last seen on board at about 04:00.
A major search and rescue operation took place between the Tyne and Bridlington but was called off last night.
It may be officially spring (meteorologically speaking at least), but it certainly hasn't felt like it in recent weeks.
However, if these photos sent in by our BBC Weather Watchers are anything to go by, it's starting to look a little bit more like spring out there.
Thanks to Weather Watcher Ar for sending this snap of spring blooms in Grimsby:

Hospital trusts across the county have all failed to meet their waiting time targets since the start of this year.
According to figures collated by the BBC, the trust which runs hopitals in Lincoln, Grantham and Boston failed to meet targets for cancer care, A&E and planned operations.
It missed its target for admitting and treating patients at A&E in four hours by 25%.
The trust has failed to meet its targets for A&E and cancer care every year since 2014.
But the chief operating officer at the trust - Mark Brassington - argued that it has seen a significant increase in pressure on all of its hospitals. He said: "We have experienced increased demand in our emergency departments resulting in our inability to see, treat and admit patients as quickly as we would like."
The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust also missed its targets - 83.4% of patients at A&E were seen in four hours.
The target is 95%.
Quote MessageA&E performance changes on a day-by-day basis and although we have seen an improving picture in these figures, we know that February was a challenging month which was impacted on with last week's bad weather."
