    More than half of drivers who have challenged parking fines in North East Lincolnshire have been successful, figures obtained by the BBC suggest.

    In Hull, 39% of people successfully appealed in the last five years, while in North Lincolnshire the figure was 46%.

    Motoring group the RAC said the data is "frightening" and showed drivers were "right to appeal".

    The Local Government Association said the figures prove councils have an "effective" appeal process.

    There are problems for passengers on Hull Trains this morning, with two services to London cancelled.

    The 08:23 and 10:30 services to the capital are not running, while the 7:22 service from London was also cancelled.

    Hull Trains says a number of its trains were badly damaged by last week's snow and ice.

    It says two of the damaged trains have now been fixed, but it is continuing to run a reduced service.

    Virgin East Coast has also cancelled a number of services this week, because of damage to trains.

    Hull's three MPs are calling for four women who led the campaign to improve safety in the fishing industry, known as the "Headscarf Revolutionaries" to be given the freedom of the city.

    Lillian Bilocca (pictured), Christine Jensen, Mary Denness and Yvonne Blenkinsop fought for a change in the law to protect trawlermen following the Triple Trawler Tragedy in 1968, in which 58 men were killed.

    Hull North MP Diana Johnson, Hull East MP Karl Turner, and the Hull West and Hessle MP Emma Hardy have written to Hull City Council calling for the women to be recognised.

    An operation to return thousands of lobsters stranded on beaches during the recent extreme weather took place this morning.

    At dawn, a Bridlington fishing boat set out into the North Sea, filled with thousands of rescued crustaceans.

    Bridlington's fishermen rely on the shellfish trade and say returning the lobsters to the wild is crucial to their future livelihood.

    Over the last two days they've released 100 crates of juvenile and egg bearing females back into the sea.

    The fear was that if they died on East Yorkshire beaches, it could affect stocks in future years.

    Sleet and snow is forecast to fall overnight from around midnight to 11:00 tomorrow morning.

    Forecasters say some roads and train services are likely to be affected and it could result in longer journey times.

    Three New Look stores in Yorkshire could be at risk of closure, as the fashion retailer plans to close 60 stores across the UK.

    The Leeds branch in the Core shopping centre, Hull's Whitefriargate and Doncaster Mens store are at risk.

    It's part of a rescue deal to help it avoid going into administration, which is being handled by Deloitte - about 980 staff face redundancy across the country.

    The rescue plan still needs approval from creditors. New Look said it faced "a difficult trading environment".

    Chairman Alistair McGeorge said the cuts were "tough but necessary".

    Hull is to get its first Young Major.

    They'll be part of the Hull Young People's Parliament and will represent the views of people aged between 11 and 17 in the city.

    A vote will take place tomorrow to elect one of the three shortlisted candidates, Emily Koyunca, 11, Kacper Legowski, 15 or Ruby Matsell, 11.

    They will also be discussing the importance of positive mental health and the outcome of those talks will be sent to local councillors, MPs and local authority partnerships.

    MPs have been calling for misogyny to be treated as a hate crime across the country in a bid to tackle sexist abuse.

    It's a debate started by Grimsby MP Melanie Onn who wants a pilot scheme to be extended across the country.

    Speaking in a Westminster debate, the Minister for Women - Victoria Atkins - said more work is needed before any change in the law.

    But she insisted the Government is committed to tackling sexism.

  15. Plans to relocate some council services to Hornseapublished at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2018

    Hornsea Leisure centre is set to close while work to turn it into a multi-use building gets under way.

    East Riding Council is seeking planning permission to refurbish the leisure centre and to relocate the library, customer service centre and Prava Road centre to the site.

    East Riding Council says it will consider using alternative venues in the town while the leisure centre is closed and will give members a discount.

    People will also be able to use other East Riding Council leisure centres during the work.

    If it gets the go-ahead, the leisure centre will re-open late 2019.

    There's been a fire at a derelict building in Grimsby used by homeless people, external.

    It happened at the former Farnhurst Resource Centre on Eleanor Street last Wednesday at around 16:00.

    A man's been arrested on suspicion of arson.

    Police say no one was hurt but people are known to sleep in the building. They're appealing for information.

  18. CCTV released of man suspected of moped theftpublished at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2018

    Police want to speak to this man about a moped that was stolen in Hull:

    The bike was stolen from outside the Polski Dom European Supermarket on Beverley Road on 3 December last year.

    The moped was spotted a few days later at a petrol station on Chanterlands Avenue and, when the man was challenged, he ran off and the bike was recovered.

    Police have now released this CCTV picture of the man and are asking anyone with any information to get in touch with them.

    This is what an auction for theme park rides look like.

    There's a sense of excitement at the former Pleasure Island in Cleethorpes - even if it doesn't reach white knuckle:

    The park, which closed at the end of 2016 due to falling visitor numbers, was a fixture on the North East Lincolnshire coast for more than 20 years.

    Among the items going up for sale is a carousel ride dating back to 1904.

    Former Hull MP and ex-deputy Prime Minister Lord Prescott says he believes he was the victim of illegal activities carried out on behalf of the Sunday Times.

    Former private investigator John Ford, who was employed by The Sunday Times and other national newspapers, has spoken for the first time about the extent of the criminal activity he was involved in while obtaining information for them:

    Mr Ford has told the BBC's Amol Rajan that among his targets were Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

    Lord Prescott says he believes he was one of the victims, too:
