    People living near the site of a proposed anaerobic digester in Woodmansey say they're furious after East Riding Council changed the project's planning consent without consulting them.

    Planners approved Gascore Plaxton's digester scheme in November 2016, but residents say they have learned the council has told the company it won't have to install most of the screening which was supposed to hide the plant from view.

    The area's Conservative MP, Graham Stuart, has written to the council over the matter.

    East Riding Council says a liaison group is being established to allow residents and the parish council to discuss the scheme with the developer and the council.

    A Hull-based charity which supports armed forces veterans with mental health problems has been praised by a government minister in Parliament.

    The charity was mentioned in the Commons by one of the city's Labour MPs, Emma Hardy (pictured), who said some veterans returned from service with mental health conditions and faced a "shameful" lack of resources:

    Designer, Pat Albeck (pictured) and the city's first female councillor Mary Hatfield are among those who are having a centenary plaque dedicated to their achievements.

    The other women honoured are Flo Bilton, who was a goalkeeper and founding member of the Women's FA, as well as Eva Crackles, a botanist and conservationist, and poet Elsa Gidlow.

    There's been more disruption to Hull Trains today despite the bad weather easing.

    The company say snow and ice caused damage to a number of their trains and as a result they've only been running a service to Doncaster.

    Engineers have been working to fix the problem, but Hull Trains say as they are only a small operator, it's had a greater impact on them.

    The company has invested £60m in building 5 new trains which will come into operation next year.

    You're being advised to check with Hull Trains to see if your service is running, external, before you travel.

  7. Disruption after death on the railwaypublished at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

    East Midlands Trains has confirmed that the following routes will be disrupted, external following a fatality on the Nottingham-Beeston line:

    • Nottingham / London St Pancras
    • Matlock / Derby / Nottingham
    • Leicester / Lincoln / Grimsby

    The company said trains between London St Pancras and Nottingham will run between London St Pancras and East Midlands Parkway only.

    Trains on the Matlock / Derby / Nottingham and Leicester / Lincoln / Grimsby route will be delayed, cancelled and revised.

    Customers with valid tickets between Nottingham and London can travel via Grantham.

    East Midlands Trains tickets can also be used on Nottingham Express Transit and CrossCountry services.

    Anyone travelling between Nottingham and Derby is advised to travel via Chesterfield.

    British Transport Police said the death, which happened at about 14.45, is not being treated as suspicious.

    Yorkshire Water says it drafted in extra staff this weekend to deal with a potential increase in burst water pipes.

    Across the UK thousands of homes are without water with suppliers saying a thaw has led to burst water mains and leaks.

    In our region, there have been reports of a couple of "big burst pipes" this morning, according to Yorkshire Water, who also say they're "working hard to keep water supplies to customers".

    The company has told customers to check their pipes, both internal and external as things thaw out.

    The Yorkshire Ambulance Service is reminding people to only call 999 for life-threatening emergencies.

    The service says it is currently experiencing "very high demand" and is asking people to use alternatives where possible.

    The recent storms and low temperatures have had a devastating impact on sea creatures in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, according to experts.

    Thousands of lobsters, crabs and fish have been washed up on the beach.

    Shellfishermen in Bridlington are trying to rescue juvenile lobsters from the beaches and return them to the sea.

    Meanwhile, at Gibraltar Point, near Skegness, many sea creatures have been washed-up on the beach.

    These pictures have come from Paul Johnson, who's seen crab, starfish, razor fish and even lobsters there.

    A man has appeared in court this morning, charged with the murder of a woman at a house in Orchard Park in Hull.

    Laura Huteson (pictured) suffered serious injuries at a house in Milldane last Tuesday and died a short time later.

    Jason Gaskell, who's 23-years-old has been remanded into custody.

    His trial is expected to be held in August.

    About 130 homes in North Yorkshire are still still without power, more than 30 hours after losing their supply.

    Northern Powergrid says it had hoped to have power restored to the properties in the Scrayingham area of Ryedale by 11:00, after having been without electricity since the early hours of Sunday.

    Now the company says it's likely to be about 15:00 today.

    More than 1,100 homes in York and across North Yorkshire were affected by power cuts over the weekend.

    Lecturers at the University of Hull are continuing their strike action today in a dispute over pensions.

    The University and College Union says employers want to make changes to the pension scheme, which would leave a typical lecturer almost £10k a year worse off.

    The employers' group Universities UK says the pension scheme has a deficit of more than £6bn which it can't ignore.

    The 40-year-old is giving his first media conference at Blundell Park with the club director Phillip Day (pictured right) since his appointment as manager.

    He comes with a glowing reference from Burnley boss Sean Dyche who told the BBC at the weekend that it's a good opportunity for his former under-23 team boss.

    Dyche says the true measure of the man will be whether or not he can make an immediate impact at a club that's in freefall, just six points above the relegation slots with 10 games left to play.
