    Emergency work means Hull's Chariot street will be closed for two weeks from today.

    Yorkshire Water and the city council are working together to repair the road surface.

    They're urging motorists to try and find alternative routes to reduce the risk of congestion in the area.

    The road will be closed until Friday 25 May.

    East Yorkshire tennis player Kyle Edmund has made it into the world top 20 for the first time.

    The 23-year-old, from Tickton, is at a career high 19 in the ATP rankings.

    Edmund got to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open last week, beating former world number one Novak Djokovic during the tournament.

    Proposals for a small marina within the harbour in Bridlington have been revealed.

    The town's harbour commissioners say this new scheme will replace plans for a multi-million pound project which was cancelled in February by East Riding of Yorkshire Council because it was unaffordable.

    Harbour chairman Chris Wright says the marina would be behind lock gates, isolating yachts from the tides.

    Scunthorpe Central Library opens to the public this morning following a £1m redevelopment.

    As well as the library, the building now has large open spaces, room for meetings and other events.

    The Citizens Advice Bureau for North Lincolnshire will also move in to the premises.

    An East Yorkshire mother is backing calls for the government to look at the impact of exam pressure on young people's mental health.

    Dads and birth partners will be allowed to stay overnight at Hull's maternity unit from today.

    Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust says it's changing the rules following feedback from a patient survey and the new times are more family friendly.

    Other relatives and friends will also have extended visiting hours.
