The Colonies Gift Tins were sent to troops serving in the trenches in France at Christmas 1914.

Cadbury made the chocolate bars and the tin was made by Barringer Wallis & Manners of Mansfield, one of the world's leading manufacturers of decorative tinware.

The tin is among a collection of items which belonged to a Leicestershire Regiment soldier called Richard Bullimore.

    Quote Message

The chocolate actually looks in surprisingly good shape, although I have to admit that I wouldn’t be tempted to give it a go, even if the experts say that chocolate seldom becomes dangerous over time. It just loses its flavour and texture."

  8. Improvement still needed at East Yorks hospitals - Reportpublished at 08:00 British Summer Time 1 June 2018

East Yorkshire's two main hospitals have been told they still need to make improvements.

    Hull Royal Infirmiry

The Care Quality Commission watchdog inspected Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill hospital and said while progress has been made, steps still need to be taken to improve safety and responsiveness.

Of the services inspected, the Care Quality Commission rated 26 of the 33 areas at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital as "good".

Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust says it's disappointed, but says the report shows the hospitals are moving in the right direction.

    Quote Message

Over 80% of what the Care Quality Commission has seen, they've rated as 'good' - It's only the vagaries of the scoring system which have kept us at 'requiring improvement'. I believe when they come back next year and look at critical care, they will rate that highly and we will be rated as good."
