    Ambulance crew approaches wall mounted

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) has withdrawn support for about 100 life-saving devices because it's not possible to cover the cost of looking after them.

Fundraisers at Hornsea Cottage Hospital say the service asked them to raise money for the defibrillators in the first place, but say a maintainence programme was never discussed.

YAS says most of the 14,000 devices in Yorkshire are maintained by local communities.

In a statement, the service says: "Unfortunately, it is not feasible for us to cover the cost and maintain of all these devices. Installing a defibrillator can be costly, with the unit itself costing between £1,000-£2,000."
