Whitstable Carnival held a competition to find this year’s Miss Whitstable last Sunday, but no girls turned up.

Some people criticised organisers, asking why boys could not take part.

Carol Sims, the chairman of the Whitstable Carnival Association, says the committee needs to talk about it, but said: “If boys are allowed to apply, there could be a prince at the Whitstable Carnival next year. Could be a King.”

Bronze Medal - Cheavon Clarke (England)published at 09:28 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Boxing: men's 91kg

Any ideas how to pronounce Cheavon out there? We're struggling in the BBC Sport office. Shay-von is our best guess. Thankfully we only have to type it, not say it.

Both boxers go hell for leather in the final round, trying to rack up a winning margin. David Nyika is landing more punches though and looks to have done enough to win it.

Over to the judges... Nyika's arm is raised into the air. Cheavon Clarke, who trains in Gravesham in Kent, must settle for bronze.

Kent Police are investigating, and have appealed for the man and woman, who were described as white and aged in their 20s, to get in touch with them.

Sgt Darren Walshaw, of the Rural Task Force, said the young owl suffered "an awful injury" and would have been in a lot of pain.

"We do not want to see another animal injured and I would encourage anyone who knows anything about this incident to get in touch with us."

Crystal Palace fans have lodged an official complaint against Sussex Police over the treatment they say they were subjected to at a match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

In a nine page letter sent to the force, the Crystal Palace Supporters Trust complains about the policing operation.

The letter states: "The central concern of this complaint is the belief that the events as they unfolded and the significant disquiet arising from law-abiding fans, were avoidable had there been better planning and communication."

Six people were arrested and two stewards were taken to hospital after the two sides met on 28 November.

Sussex Police later apologised for wrongly claiming weapons were found after crowd trouble during the match.

    Quote Message

We can confirm that on 10 April we received a complaint from the Crystal Palace Football Supporters Trust about the policing operation for the Brighton and Hove Albion v Crystal Palace match on 28 November 2017. Our Professional Standards Department are assessing the complaint in order to determine how it will be investigated. We have already apologised to both clubs and the supporters about some information published that was not correct.

Southern Rail released this picture of the landslip

A landslip between Horsham and Dorking means all lines between the stations are blocked.

Network Rail have been working through the night at Holmwood to remove soil and debris.

So far 16 tons has been removed, but there is more than 100 tons remaining, Southern Rail says, external.

The company says trains will be cancelled as a result of the incident and disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Trains are not able to serve Warnham, Ockley or Holmwood stations.

A replacement bus service began operating between Horsham and Dorking in both directions at 05:00 BST and leaves every 30 minutes calling at all stations.

Southern Rail is urging people to leave extra time for their journeys.

Anyone travelling between Horsham and London should use alternative services via Gatwick Airport, the company says.

South Western Railway will accept Southern tickets between Dorking and Clapham Junction until further notice.

Southern says a review of the situation will be carried out at 10:30 BST.
