    The Fashion Start Ups: Building Your Brand event will be the first in a series aiming to bring people together to talk, learn and be inspired.  

    Anyone who currently works or is looking to work in the fashion industry is welcome to attend the event at the Tetley Gallery in Leeds on Tuesday 29 November.

    A659 Harrogate Road in Harewood is currently blocked and there's queuing traffic in both directions at Harewood Bridge, because of an accident.

    An off-duty police officer has been attacked with a knife as he tried to stop a suspected shoplifter in Leeds on "Black Friday".

    The officer received slash injuries to his neck, face and hand at the HMV shop in Leeds city centre just after 09:00 this morning.

    The victim has been taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not life-threatening, according to police.

    A 36-year-old man from Leeds has been arrested in connection with the attack.

    The HMV store remains closed while detectives carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

    Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has the versatility to play anywhere across the front line if required, according to head coach Garry Monk.

    Antonsson has had to settle for a place on the First Team bench recently and scored a hat trick for the Under 23s in midweek.

    Leeds United are at Rotherham United tomorrow and a man who has managed both clubs, Steve Evans, is a guest on Noel Whelan's show tonight on BBC Radio Leeds from 18:00.

    Cylists in Leeds are due to pay tribute later to a cheerleading coach who was killed last week as he cycled on one of the main roads into the city

    John Harkins, 33, died at the scene on Kirkstall Road when a VW Golf crashed into a parade of shops.

    He was a popular founder and coach of Leeds' Aviator All Stars cheerleaders.

    Tonight, cyclists are expected to gather at the Bikes College in Armley before making their way into Leeds.

    Organisers say they want to pay tribute to Mr Harkins by holding an event he'd be proud of.

    The biggest Chinese lantern festival in the country comes to West Yorkshire for the first time later.

    More than 30 giant handmade lantern displays are due to go on show at Roundhay Park in Leeds for the next five weeks. 

    When it was in London last year, it attracted over 100,000 visitors.

    A man who was found collapsed on Thornton Road in Bradford earlier this morning has died.

    Police were called to the scene by ambulance staff at about 05:15 after the 50-year-old man was discovered.

    Thornton Road in Bradford remains closed in both directions between the Rhodesway junction and the Charteris Road junction while police investigate.

    However, police say they don't believe his death is suspicious, external.

    A newborn baby who died after being left outside a church vicarage in Leeds was abandoned in a supermarket carrier bag, police say.

    The boy was found outside St Peter's Church, in Hough Lane, Bramley, on Wednesday morning.  

    West Yorkshire Police believe the mother could be in desperate need of medical attention and are appealing for her to get in touch.

    Leeds player David Grace was unable to repeat his 2015 UK Championship heroics but said he did little wrong in his 6-2 first-round defeat by China's Zhao Xintong.

    Grace, 31, had an amazing run to the semi-finals last year but 19-year-old Zhao, one of the rising stars of the game, showed superb form to beat him.

    He said he felt the need to go for hard pots because Zhao was "potting balls off the lampshade".

    Castleford Tigers are to take legal action against winger Denny Solomona after he failed to return to the club for pre-season training.

    Solomona scored 40 tries in the 2016 season, including a record total of 40 in Super League.

    Tigers chairman Steve Gill said in October that the 23-year-old Samoan was not for sale and would be returning to the club on 7 November.

    BBC Sport understands Solomona has held talks with rugby union side Sale.

    The Premiership club declined to comment.
