  1. Watch: 'Deadly serious' threat from flooding in Calderdalepublished at 11:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2016

    The threat of death from flooding hangs over people in the Calder Valley every day of their lives. 

    That's the stark warning contained in Calderdale Council's flood risk management strategy, external which says that fatalities from flooding are an "ever present" possibility.

    A child protection charity says it's been contacted by 35 men from West Yorkshire in the space of 12 months who say they need help to stop viewing abusive images of youngsters.

    The men rang a confidential helpline called Stop It Now, while hundreds from West Yorkshire also visited their website. 

    The helpline offers anonymous support for people who are worried about their online sexual behaviour or that of others. 

    A total of 620 people from West Yorkshire visited the Stop It Now website in the last year, the charity says - a 30% rise on the year before.

    A conference on safeguarding children from the growing threat of online abuse is due to be held in Wakefield later.

    More on that crash in Castleford this morning.

    Details are still sketchy, but I understand that Queens Park Drive is closed after a crash involving two cars.

    It happened about 08:10 this morning. Two people have been taken to hospital, one by air and the other by road. 

    We have no word on the condition of those involved.

  9. Muse, Bastille and Major Lazer are announced for Leeds Festivalpublished at 08:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2016

    Muse have been announced as the first headliners for next year's Leeds Festival.

    The band will top the bill for the third time at the two festivals following previous headline performances in 2006 and 2011.

    Muse said they were "very excited" to be playing the festival again.  

    Also confirmed are Major Lazer, At The Drive-In, Canadian breakout star Tory Lanez, English DJ Andy C and British indie rockers Glass Animals.

    People in the Calder Valley are living under a constant threat of death due to flooding, according to Calderdale Council.

    The latest council flood risk plan, external was approved at a meeting last night - a strategy document which runs to nearly 100 pages and includes more than £90m of flood spending plans. 

    It includes ideas for beefing up the district's roads and railways and ways to control flooding by managing the land.

    West Yorkshire is to be the base of a major new study into how best to combat online radicalisation and terrorism.

    An in-depth study's being run at the University of Bradford in a move which also involves the man in charge of West Yorkshire Police and the North East Counter Terrorism Unit. 

    West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Burns-Williamson, says the study hopes to give a better explanation of how online radicalisation works.

    The region anti-terrorism unit says it hopes the study's finding will help it give better training to its staff

    A man has been injured during an attempted armed robbery in Leeds.

    A masked man, carrying what appeared to be a handgun, hit a male shop worker over the head at Logan Stores in Ireland Wood last night. He demanded cash but fled empty-handed.  

    West Yorkshire Police say that they're also looking into a spate of other raids at shops in the area.
