  1. Leeds has most 'blue badge' prosecutions in Englandpublished at 10:05 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

More motorists from Leeds have been prosecuted for misusing disabled parking badges than drivers from anywhere else in England, new figures show.

    Disabled parking space

A total of 896 drivers faced legal action in the year to March, and one in four of them were from Leeds, analysis by the Press Association of figures from the Department for Transport reveals.

Almost all - 98% - were for drivers using someone else's blue badge.

Blue badges mean that disabled people can park for free in pay and display bays and for up to three hours on yellow lines. Misusing them can carry a fine of up to £1,000.

    Quote Message

We take a no-nonsense approach and prosecute anyone we find abusing a blue badge. Abusing a blue badge inconveniences others and puts people at a disadvantage which is simply unfair."
