    Nearly all planned operations at St James' Hospital in Leeds were cancelled yesterday, BBC Yorkshire understands.

    It's thought operations couldn't go ahead because of a lack of beds. 

    The trust which runs the hospital says they did carry out a small number of specialist procedures, as well as urgent and emergency surgery.

    A man in his seventies has been shot with an air gun in an attempted robbery in Bradford this evening.

    Armed police responded to the incident on Toller Lane just before 21:00.

    The man isn't thought to be seriously injured. 

    Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

    Castleford Tigers have launched legal action against Sale Sharks, Denny Solomona and his agent following the player's switch to rugby union.

    Despite having a two-year contract with Super League side Cas, Solomona, 23, has joined Sale on a three-year deal.

    Castleford are now suing for damages against Sale, Solomona and Andy Clark, his agent, at the High Court in Leeds.

    "The proceedings have been issued as a last resort," Tigers chairman Steve Gill said in a club statement.

  18. Two found guilty of Bradford murderpublished at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    Two men have been found guilty of murdering a Bradford man, they now face life sentences.

    Earlier today Amjad Khan (left) and Ismail Khan (right) were today convicted of the murder of Imran Khan. 

    Imran, who was 30, was shot and fatally wounded in Round Street, Bradford on 6 June this year. 

    Amjad, 31, from New Cross Street, West Bowling and Ismail, 32, from Masham Place, were remanded in custody and will be sentenced tomorrow.
