    Sara Khan, 16, was last seen on Sunday 11 February in the Flanderwell area of Rotherham at about 17:00.

    Sara is described as about 5ft 6ins tall, of a medium build with long dark hair which is usually worn in a bun. She was last seen wearing black jeans, a black jumper, a black denim jacket and black Puma trainers.

    PC Gary Castledine, said: “Despite Sara making contact with a family member on Friday evening (16 February), she still hasn’t been seen and we are keen to find her to ensure her welfare."

    Anyone with information is should call 101 quoting incident number 1105 of 11 February 2018.

    Staff at four of Yorkshire's biggest universities will go on strike for two days this Thursday.

    Members of the University and College Union (UCU) are walking out in a row over pensions.

    Sixty four universities around the UK will be affected by the action.

    Staff at the universities of York, Sheffield , Leeds and Hull will be taking part in the action, the first in a total of 14 walk outs over the month.

    The strike will affect more than 33,000 students in Leeds alone.

    A Universities UK spokeswoman said a solution to "significant funding challenges" facing the scheme needed to be found.

    Congratulations to Yorkshire ice cream maker, David Otterburn who has won the top award in the industry's most prestigious competition.

    His mint chocolate chip flavour was judged to be the best at the National Ice Cream Competition in Harrogate.

    David's family have been making ice cream for the last 30 years. He says he can't believe the business has been running for so long.

    He's now working on developing a new flavour to mark their special anniversary. It will be launched on Yorkshire Day which is 1 August.

    A National Crime Agency briefing into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham has revealed that it's now believed the number of victims and survivors has increased from 1,400 to 1,510.

    A 17-year-old boy in Scarborough need hospital treatment after another teenager launched an unprovoked attack on him.

    It happened on 19 February on Stepney Road at about 11:00.

    North yorkshire Police say they don't know who the attacker was, but describe him as 5ft, about 17 to 18 years old and wearing a black coat and blue jeans.

    The 17-year-old was left with a cut on the back of his neck.

    A section of woodland has been cordoned off in Leeds after someone came across what appears to be a handgun.

    The discovery was made at about 18:40 yesterday in Batcliffe Wood in Headingley.

    West Yorkshire Police say they're now searching the area.

    Officers have also sent the gun off for examination to see if it is a genuine firearm or not.

    Police would like to talk to this man after a teenager was left with a serious facial injury in an assault in a nightclub.

    The assault happened on New Year's day at about 06:00 in Bradford.

    The 18-year-old man was treated in hospital for his injuries.

    Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call West Yorkshire Police on 101.

    There's a broken down train on the line between Leeds and Harrogate. It's causing delays of up to thirty minutes.

    A police cordon is in place this morning near Trinity Shopping centre in Leeds as officers investigate a "potential sexual assault".

    West Yorkshire Police were called at about 06:00 and were told by a "third party" about a potential sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl near to the Holy Trinity Church, on Boar Lane.

    Officers say a forensic examination is under way and inquiries are ongoing.

    Earlier this morning four Sheffield Steelers ice hockey back room staff set off on foot to Belfast.

    I talked tactics with Elliott Hall and Neil Edwards on their plans to walk the 328 mile journey.

    They are raising money for the Amy Usher fund at Weston Park.

    Amy was a Steelers fan from Wath who died from cancer when she was just 22 years old.

    Head teachers of secondary schools in South Yorkshire are to be sent letters over their fixed-period exclusion rates by a top school inspector.

    Ofsted's regional director for North East Yorkshire and the Humber, Cathy Kirby, says she's writing a letter asking head teachers to think twice before excluding pupils.

    She said: "Children in this region of the country typically do not do as well by the age of 16... The last thing we want to do is to be excluding children from education, we want them in school and learning."

    In the national top ten list of local authorities with the highest exclusion rates, Barnsley was ranked second, with all other South Yorkshire councils making the list.
