    Two suspected drug dealers from Merseyside have been arrested after being chased by police through a park in Scarborough.

    One jumped into the duck pond in Peasholm Park to try and escape.

    The 20-year-old man and 17-year-old boy have been released on bail after being arrested in connection with class A drug offences.

    Fire crews have been sent to a recycling centre in Bradford as a large plume of black smoke has been seen hanging over city skyline.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called out to Planetrees Road earlier.

    Three fire engines were sent to tackle the flames - which are now believed to be out.

    It's not clear if anyone has been injured.

    A convicted sex offender who has absconded is being sought by North Yorkshire Police.

    David Laycock was due to be sentenced for a non-recent sexual assault against a 10-year-old girl in Filey, but failed to attend his court hearing.

    A judge at York Crown Court has issued a warrant for his arrest.

    The 43-year-old is from Lancashire and police believe he may currently be in the Blackpool area.

    He also has connections with Halifax and Todmorden but is known to move around.

    The production is choreographed by Yorkshire's Balbir Singh Dance Company, external, who've previously created dance pieces for ice rinks, swimming pools and performances on bikes.

  6. Leeds ram-raid: Robbers drove through shopping centrepublished at 12:01 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2018

    A gang who staged a failed ram-raid at a high-end watch shop in Leeds city centre drove through a shopping centre to get to their target, police have revealed.

    Detectives say the Rolex at Prestons store in Commercial Street was attacked at about 11:55 yesterday by men wearing balaclavas.

    They were in two cars - a red Fiat Stilo and a blue Ford Focus ST - with the Fiat being reversed into the shop window. the men tried to remove the glass but were unsuccessful.

    The Fiat was reversed into the shop window and the offenders, who were armed with various tools, then attempted to remove the glass. They were unable to gain access and drove off empty-handed.

    West Yorkshire police say the route the raiders took was by turning off The Headrow along King Charles Street and driving through The Core shopping centre.

    Officers say the Fiat, reg no WN04 WEV, wasn't registered to a new keeper after being sold and the Ford had cloned number plates.

    Police say they are not linking it with other similar ram-raids in the city over recent months.

    A popular cycle race in Sheffield is changing its base this year so more people can be involved.

    The Magnificent Seven, external will start and finish in Bradfield, allowing more people to take part and more space for parking.

    It's not for the faint-hearted: as Sheffield is surrounded by hills it's no surprise that next month's race features seven tough ascents.

    Police say a VW Golf has been stolen from a Scarborough street after thieves broke into the owner's home and stole the car keys.

    The incident happened overnight last Thursday.

    The property owner told police that a handbag, which had the car keys in, was stolen.

    The car was parked outside the house on Peasholm Drive.

    Barnsley Council is urging people to report fly-tipping so that more culprits can be caught.

    The authority is using "Dumpit and Scarper" as a name to describe those involved in fly-tipping.

    It's asking people to tell them if they see any sign of what it's terming IDIOTS - Illegal Dumpers In Our Town.

    Anyone who wants to report illegal dumping to the council can do so via its website, external.

    Government figures have previously shown that prosecutions for the offence nationally are at an all-time low.

    Lifeboat crews at Whitby RNLI have rescued six adults and a baby in two separate incidents after they got cut off by the tide at Robin Hood's Bay.

    The latest incident was last Saturday when two adults and a baby had to be rescued by crews.

    It was the second rescue in three days.

    Last Thursday four adults were cut off by the tide.

    Whitby lifeboat crew was called but the group were climbing to safety when they got there.

    The incident was then dealt with by the Coastguard.

    Police in Bradford say they want to speak to this man and woman after a 35-year-old man was left seriously injured when he tried to break up an argument.

    On 28 January officers say the man was near Bentley’s bar on Godwin Street at about 01:30.

    He then intervened in an argument between two groups of people, he was left with serious injures and is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

    Three men aged 18 and a 19-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the assault - all of them have been bailed pending further enquiries.

    The Yorkshire Party says it beggars belief that the cost for candidates to stand to be Mayor of Doncaster is only £500 and that it doesn't think the fee of ten times that amount can be justified.

    Baldersby farmer, mountaineer and fundraiser, Chris Brown MBE is no stranger to challenges.

    In 1999 he became only the seventh Briton to climb the seven highest peaks in each continent.

    He has just finished his latest fundraiser.

    He and Chris I'Anson a feed merchant from Masham, have spent 19 days cycling over 2,000 kilometres, climbing over 60,000 feet of ascent which is over twice the height of Mount Everest.

    Chris summited Everest in 1999 when he was 52-years-old.

    The team, which has been supported by driver Paul Smith from Easingwold are raising money for Claro Entreprises in Starbeck which supports people with mental health problems and Parkinsons UK.
