    The South Tees Hospital Trust has reassured people that Northallerton's Friarage Hospital won't be closing.

    More than 1,500 people have taken part in a consultation over the future of the site after health bosses warned that they were struggling to recruit staff in key areas such as the accident and emergency Department.

    A business case for the hospital is now being worked on to cover the next 15 years.

    Police in Ripon are appealing for witnesses and information after a large trailer-mounted advertisement board was deliberately set on fire.

    It happened in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

    Police say that this is just one of a number of arson attacks in the area and they are appealing for information.

    Lamb Setts Montessori Nursery in Mosborough has had its registration with Ofsted suspended for six weeks after allegations were made against a member of staff.

    A month of strikes over changes to lecturers' pensions, affecting a total of 64 universities and more than a million students, is starting.

    Academics are walking out at universities from York to Bangor, and including Oxford and Cambridge.

    Petitions signed by 80,000 students, many backing the lecturers, are demanding refunds for lost teaching.

    But the employers' group Universities UK says the scheme has a deficit of more than £6bn which it cannot ignore.
