The fire service is continuing to monitor the hole which opened up in the grounds of Ripon Leisure Centre on Friday.

They say the hole in Dallamires Lane is about 16ft across and of "unknown depth".

In November 2016 families were forced out of their homes after a big sinkhole opened up in their gardens in the city's Magdalen's Road.

Harrogate Borough Council says the latest sinkhole will not affect plans to build a new swimming pool in the area.

But an engineer's report will "influence the design of the new building".

The council says: "We've always known about the potential of sinkholes on the site, which is why we've been carrying out tests to understand what foundations may be required."

There is nothing to suggest the sinkhole is connected to three recent test drillings."

Stoats have the ability to turn white in winter, but the transformation only happens sporadically and is an uncommon sight in Yorkshire.

It was spotted by wildlife artist, Robert E Fuller, on surveillance cameras installed in his Thixendale garden, which he uses to study wildlife for his paintings.

Robert, who recently lent his expertise to the BBC's Winterwatch, recorded this cracking film this morning:
