    It is not the only Super League game that has been affected by the freezing weather; games at Leeds Rhinos (pictured), Wakefield and St Helens have also been postponed.

  7. Police appeal over Leeds woman's deathpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    Police are appealing for help in establishing the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body's been found in a Leeds street.

    Well Street, Farsley

    Officers were called to Well Street in Farsley (pictured) at about 06:10 this morning after the body of the 75-year-old woman was discovered partially under a car.

    There is nothing at this stage to suggest her death is suspicious, according to Det Insp James Entwistle.

    "We have established the woman's identity and are in contact with her family," Det Insp Entwistle adds.

    Anyone who saw the woman, who may have appeared confused, is being asked to contact police.

    York railway station is a busy place to be as people are diverted from Leeds to the city en route to London.

    It took me more than three hours to get to the station from West Yorkshire today.

    This was the scene when one train arrived at York:

    Virgin East Coast is now running a limited service from York and has suspended services for the time being from Leeds to London.

    It's due to damaged overhead cables between Wakefield and Doncaster and the company has advised customers not to travel today or tomorrow.

    Upcoming Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield and Wakefield Super League games have been postponed due to the freezing weather.

    Hull KR were due to play Castleford Tigers at Craven Park later, but the club says journeys "pose a risk".

    Wakefield's game against Huddersfield, scheduled for Friday, will now take place on Sunday (15:00) with Saints against Salford hoping to follow suit.

    Leeds Rhinos said the decision to call off Friday's game against Catalans Dragons "was not taken lightly".

    "It is something that has happened on only a handful of occasions in the past 20 years," Leeds Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington added.

    People are still stuck on the M62 as cars struggle to find any grip on the snowy tarmac.

    The eastbound carriageway was closed after a Highways England 4X4 caught fire as it tried to help move a stranded lorry.

    But it appears that fresh snow now means that cars, vans and lorries are making little or no progress:

    A report detailing the authority's budget plans says, external the council needs to save £31m in 2018-19.
