    He was last seen at his home in Farsley, Leeds, at about 14:00 yesterday.

    Police describe him as white, bald-headed, 6ft tall, of medium build and he has hazel brown eyes.

    He was last seen wearing light-coloured jeans, a khaki sweater, a tan leather jacket and brown Timberland style boots.

    Anyone with information about his whereabouts is being asked to contact police.

    An extra 90 doctors a year are to be trained in Yorkshire as part of government plans to expand the number of medical school placements, it's been announced.

    They'll train at the Hull York Medical School, which is based at the University of York.

    It means the school will now train 220 doctors a year - that's up from 130 a year.

    Halifax's Piece Hall could be crowned as one of the best-lit buildings in the world after being nominated for an international prize.

    The historic structure - or more specifically its lighting - is up for the Community and Public Realm Project of the Year Award in this year's International Lighting Design Awards, external.

    It's one of only two in the UK to get a nomination in the category, with more than 300 entrants from around the world.

    The Grade I-listed Piece Hall, which dates from 1779, recently underwent a £19m restoration and reopened last year.

    Police are urging people in South Yorkshire to become "counter-terrorism citizens" and report any suspicious behaviour or activity.

    One in five reports made to counter-terrorism police in the UK last year contained useful intelligence, say detectives.

    Det Ch Supt Martin Snowden, head of counter-terrorism police for the north east, says: "Your assistance is more important than ever.

    "The key to tackling the growing threat from terrorism is our relationship with, and the support of, local communities."

    People are being encouraged to visit the counter-terrorism police, external website for more information about how to report and act on suspicious activity.

    An investigation's been launched by West Yorkshire Police after an officer was filmed using his phone while behind the wheel in a police van in Bradford.

    The footage was taken in the city centre by Rizwan Desai, who has described the incident, on 15 March, as "disgraceful" and "horrendous".

    Mr Desai said the officer was “putting people’s lives at risk” and his actions were “hypocritical".

    Supt Daniel Greenwood, from West Yorkshire Police, said: "A complaint has been received in relation to a police officer appearing to use his mobile phone while driving a vehicle in Bradford.

    "An investigation is also ongoing in relation to possible road traffic offences and these will be dealt with as if they were committed by a member of the public."

    The officer involved has been identified and the incident has been referred to West Yorkshire Police's Professional Standards Department, the force says.

    ...But, no it's true. A cinema in Leeds really is offering dog owners the chance to take their pooch along with them to a dog-friendly screening of Wes Anderson’s new film Isle of Dogs.

    It's all happening at the Hyde Park Picture House in Headingley on 7 April.

    According to the cinema, staff will be on hand armed with an "abundance of cleaning supplies", along with volunteers from Dogs Trust Leeds who will be raising funds.

    This got us thinking. There must be lots of you with pictures of your dogs/cats watching the TV.

    So why not send them in and we'll feature them?

    Police have lost track of 20 sex offenders in Yorkshire, according to a report by Sky News, external.

    The broadcaster says it asked forces across the UK to reveal the number of registered sex offenders whose whereabouts were unknown on 17 January this year.

    West Yorkshire Police said there were 10 registered sex offenders wanted for breaching of registration requirements.

    Three of those are living outside the UK, with four being wanted for more than a year.

    Meanwhile, South Yorkshire Police said 10 registered sex offenders were wanted because their whereabouts were unknown

    They were guilty of crimes such as indecent assault on a female under 14 and making indecent photos of children.

    There were no registered sex offenders who were currently missing in North Yorkshire, according to Sky News.

    The 30mph limit on the M621 near Leeds has left some motorists disgruntled since it was set up a few weeks ago.

    Highways England is currently working on the carriageway, which means traffic travelling at 70mph has to slow down to the much slower limit.

    But it's left some drivers feeling like they are crawling along - and has led to Highways England tweeting this response:

    Earlier we asked you about the state of the roads where you are, after it was revealed today it would cost £1bn to fix all of Yorkshire's potholes.

    Nearly 190,000 potholes were filled in across Yorkshire last year, according to a survey by the Asphalt Industry Alliance.

    We've already heard back from Spencer Guest, in Wakefield, who says the roads where he lives in Outwood are "a mess".

    "They got very badly patched a few months ago and they've already re-opened. I live about a mile from the M1 and I can count more than 30 potholes," he says.

    "Some dangerous between home and the M1, some are deep, one or two the local council could open a small lido and charge people."

    We told you yesterday about 100 long-distance runners being treated for hypothermia after being rescued from blizzard conditions on the North York Moors.

    Three hundred people ran over the moors and Cleveland Hills on Saturday, in the The Hardmoors 55 ultramarathon, which was halted due to extreme conditions.

    This is his climb up crags known as the Wainstones on the Cleveland Way.

    A spokesperson for the rescue team described the weather as "appalling wintry conditions".

    Looking at Pete's picture it's very hard to disagree with that assessment!
