    A flat bed truck which had been used in "multiple fly-tips" across Bradford has been seized by the authorities.

    Bradford Council’s Environmental Enforcement Team took action after people told them they had seen the truck being used to dump rubbish at least six times across the district.

    The council says the people responsible were caught on CCTV fly-tipping material ranging from tyres to building and construction waste.

    The people who own the van have been identified and could be prosecuted - the maximum penalty for fly tipping is five years in prison.

  2. Sheffield gas leak: Residents could return to homes soonpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 11 April 2018

    Engineers working on a gas leak in Sheffield - which meant a number of homes had to be evacuated - say that people will soon be able to return to their property.

    Speaking on BBC Radio Sheffield in the last few minutes, Cadent Gas, formerly National Grid Gas, said crews had managed to stop the leak.

    They are now carrying out checks and all being well can start to let residents back into their homes.

    Hatfield House Lane and Winkley Terrace were closed as a result of the incident, Sheffield City Council contractor, Amey, admitted responsibility for damaging the pipe.

    Tributes are being paid to BBC Yorkshire's political editor Len Tingle who has died at the age of 63 after being diagnosed with cancer a year ago.

    Helen Thomas, head of BBC Yorkshire, described him as the "gentle giant of politics in Yorkshire".

    "As a colleague he was kind, honest and always ready to help others," she said.

    "As a political journalist he was passionate in the pursuit of the real story.

    "For many he made sense of the changing political landscape in Yorkshire and it's a tribute to him that so many politicians of today and yesterday saw him as a journalist they could trust in good times and in bad."

    BBC Yorkshire political editor Len Tingle has died at the age of 63 after being diagnosed with cancer a year ago.

    Len, who lived in Huddersfield but was brought up in Cudworth near Barnsley, was a familiar face on Look North and Sunday Politics.

    His television career began at Central TV in 1981, before joining the BBC in 1989 as a business presenter in London.

    He moved to Leeds as business and industry correspondent before taking up the role of political editor in 2001.

    Police in North Yorkshire are trying to find this man after he failed to go court over alleged fraud.

    John Duggan, 58 of Kent Road North in Harrogate was due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 6 March .

    Officers have now issued a warrant for his arrest and want anyone who knows where he is to contact them.

    North Yorkshire Police say he has connections in Caernarfon in North Wales, Halifax and the general West Yorkshire area.

    Crews have finished their work to repair a sunken manhole cover on a slip road where the M1 meets the M62:

    Highways England say that all lanes at J42 of the M1 are now open.

    However there are still delays stretching back for about a mile, although that picture is expected to improve.

    The director of a Yorkshire LBGT group has expressed his disappointed towards a bar in Leeds which denied entry to a gay couple.

    Thomas Wales runs Gay Yorkshire, which provides an independent guide to everything LGBT in the county.

    An attack on a man in Knaresborough was so serious that surgeons had to rebuild his face.

    Police say the incident, external is believed to have occurred in the ginnel leading to Park Place, between the High Street and Park Row, at about 23:45 on aturday, 31 March.

    Three men are thought to have been in the area at the time and police want to speak to those people.

    North Yorkshire Police said that in order to jog people's memory the incident happened after the Anthony Joshua boxing match had been screened.

    Twenty people are still unable to return to their homes following a gas leak in Sheffield.

    Police woke residents in the middle of the night after contractors caused a gas main to leak on Hatfield House Lane in Shiregreen.

    Street contractor, AMEY, has apologised for the disruption.

    The council says the new plans would still provide effective support for families and most cost savings would come from reducing management and building running costs.

    He was released from HMP Hull last month, having been jailed for robbery and racially/religiously aggravated criminal damage.

    Police say he's since breached the terms of his release due to his poor behaviour – and the Prison and Probation Service recalled him to prison last Friday, external.

    Watson has links to Harrogate, and is believed to be in Sheffield.

    A scam has cost a woman from Harrogate thousands of pounds when a man posed as a police officer.

    The woman took a call from someone claiming to be involved in an undercover police operation.

    He said they were investigating money stolen from her account and claimed men had been arrested.

    The woman was asked to withdraw £9,000 to verify her account and was told to tell the bank she was buying a car.

    The thief said a police officer would collect the money from her house and would use a password and she handed the money over.

    Police are now supporting the woman and warning others to be aware
