    A Sheffield shop has been stripped of its right to sell alcohol following a raid by Trading Standards officers.

    A hearing at Sheffield City Council heard that the Trinity Shop, in Chesterfield Road, was "undermining the prevention of crime and disorder and the protection of children from harm".

    Trading Standards officials raided the store - located close to the Heeley Retail Park - following a complaint from a member of the public, and discovered a haul of smuggled, illicit and counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco.

    They also discovered a number of serious breaches of the store's alcohol licence.

    A meeting's being held in York later that could see the city's landmark Parliament Street fountain demolished.

    The structure's been a city centre focal point and meeting place for more than 20 years,

    A council report says the fountain, which hasn't worked for several years, is linked to problems with antisocial behaviour and has been used to store drugs paraphenalia.

    Options being considered to replace it include an artwork to commemorate Joseph Rowntree and a bandstand.

    A 91-year-old man whose mobility scooter was stolen in a burglary in Royston, Barnsley, has had a new one bought for him by the local community.

    Derek Risdel had his garage broken into and his mobility scooter stolen last month.

    He used it to go to the shops and run errands for his 90-year-old wife, with local PCSOs saying that his independence and freedom had been taken too.

    The new scooter was paid for by donations from officers, with help from a local mobility shop in Swinton.

    Bradford singer Zayn Malik says he has overcome the anxiety that stopped him going on tour with his debut album.

    Mind of Mine topped the charts in several countries in 2016, but Zayn didn't take it on the road.

    Now his second album is about to come out, he says he is ready.

    "I'm excited to see what people think of it. I think my confidence has grown in the last year and a half," he told Nick Grimshaw on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

    "It's a bit different to my last record in terms of, it's matured."

    Zayn says he has been working on his personal issues to do with him and with leaving One Direction in 2015.

    It doesn't sound like Zayn will be moving back to Yorkshire anytime soon.

    He now lives permanently in Los Angeles and will continue to do so following his split from Gigi Hadid.

    Police in Knaresborough are searching for three men who attacked another man last month leaving him needing facial reconstructive surgery.

    Although the assault happened on 31 March, the man - who's in his 30s - only reported it to police on Tuesday after undergoing treatment in hospital.

    North Yorkshire Police say the attack happened in the ginnel leading to Park Place, between the High Street and Park Row (pictured).

    Officers say three men were believed to be in the area at the time of the assault.

    Police want to speak to this man in connection with the theft of a till from a shop in Huddersfield:

    It happened last Thursday afternoon at the Corner Cash Convenience Store on Riddings Road in Deighton.

    Two men went into the shop, bought various items and left, however one of them returned and demanded the shop refund him for a can of lager.

    The shopkeeper refused and the man became aggressive and leaned over the counter, grabbed the till and ran off.

    Anyone with information, or who recognises the man in the picture, is being asked to contact police.

    A teenage girl has been sexually assaulted at a park in Doncaster

    A 14-year-old girl says a man attacked her in Hexthorpe Park on Wednesday afternoon.

    She's told police that after asking her for the time, the man sexually assaulted her and made off towards Oswin Avenue.

    He is white, around 18 to 20-years-old and wore a red coat.

    Ten Carpetright stores in Yorkshire are to close as part of restructuring plans.

    The firm has announced 92 stores nationwide are affected with 11 having already stopped trading.

    More than 2,000 people have signed an online petition calling for a long-serving former Scarborough lifeboat coxswain to be reinstated.

    Tom Clark MBE was stood down after more than 30 years by the RNLI after what the organisation says was an unauthorised lifeboat training exercise.

    The RNLI says it's 100% committed to saving lives at sea and would never consider standing someone down unless there was due cause and reason.

  17. Police repeat appeal for dashcam footage after fatal crashpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

    Police in West Yorkshire are making an appeal for dashcam footage, following a crash on the M62 earlier this month, which killed two men.

    The car they were travelling in was hit by another vehicle that was travelling the wrong way down the carriageway near Bradford.

    Police were given reports of a black Vauxhall Insignia driving on the wrong side of the road near junction 26 at 02:35 BST.

    The fatal crash killed 34-year-old Adam Afsar and 27-year-old Jason Wilby, who were both from Dewsbury.

    The 22-year-old driver of the Vauxhall was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing a roadside breath test.

    Plans to make sure rural villages such as Bubwith in East Yorkshire don't lose bus connections to York are up for discussion today.

    East Yorkshire Motor Services is planning to stop running the number 18 bus service which links the two, saying it's not financially viable.

    City of York Council is looking at three options which will all involve a degree of subsidy.

    The last Toys "R" Us stores are to close in around two weeks time, administrators have announced.

    Four stores in Yorkshire will shut their doors, with the loss of more than 2,000 jobs nationwide.

    The remaining 75 Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores will trade as normal until the last day.
