    The man responsible for safety at Scarborough's harbour says sacking the town's RNLI coxswain could delay lifeboat launches and put people in danger at sea.

    Paul Wilkinson, Scarborough harbour's watchkeeper, has spoken out after the dismissal of long-serving lifeboat man Tom Clark MBE.

    His claims are disputed by the RNLI, which says Mr Clark's dismissal will have no impact on its operations in Scarborough.

    A petition to reinstate Tom Clark has so far been signed by almost 4,500 people.

    Police are investigating a serious assault in Doncaster at the weekend.

    Two men assaulted a 25-year-old man from the town near to the Mambo bar on Silver Street (pictured) at 23:30 on Friday night.

    The man's condition is described as stable but he remains in hospital with serious injuries.

    The first Bradford Curry awards take place tonight.

    They'll celebrate local businesses that have made the city famous for its South Asian cuisine.

    Bradford Curry Awards director, Fatima Patel, launched the competition last month as a way for individual Bradford restraunts to be recognised for their food.

    She says: "It's important to appreciate the food that's put the city on the map."

    Bradford is well-known for it’s curry, having won Britain’s Curry Capital title six times in a row.

    There's a special homecoming celebration later for Leeds' gold medal gymnast, Nile Wilson.

    Nile won five medals at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

    Three of those were gold, including the title of best all around gymnast.

    Yorkshire athletes won 18 gold medals as part of Team England’s successful Commonwealth Games campaign on the Gold Coast.This evening's event has been organised by Leeds Gymnastics Club.

    The officer, who works in the west Leeds area was assaulted after they tried to stop a motorist.

    The suspect left the car on foot and the officer followed, when they caught up with them they attacked them around the head.

    The officer had to be taken to hospital.

    A teenager from West Yorkshire has been charged with injuring three women who were hit by a car in Blackpool.

    The pedestrians were struck by a Skoda estate in Talbot Road at about 23:50 BST on Saturday, leaving a woman in her 80s with a broken collarbone.

    A woman in her 70s suffered a sprained ankle and a third, aged in her 30s, had a broken tooth and leg injuries.

    Jake Hartley, 19, from Todmorden, appeared before Blackpool magistrates charged with attempted wounding.

    Mr Hartley, of Rochdale Road, was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on 16 May.

    South Yorkshire Police felt "forced" into giving the BBC advanced notice of their 2014 raid on Sir Cliff Richard's home, a former detective has told the High Court.

    Ex-Det Supt Matthew Fenwick said South Yorkshire Police had wanted to delay a story about a historical sex abuse investigation into the singer until they could search his Berkshire flat.

    Sir Cliff, who is suing the BBC over privacy, was never charged.

    The BBC says its coverage was of "legitimate public interest".

    Lawyers for the singer, who had always denied wrongdoing, said the BBC took the decision to name him in its August 2014 report of the raid, causing him "profound and long-lasting damage".

    Bells on Sunday comes from St.Matthew's Church in Chapel Allerton, Leeds. There are 6 bells which were cast by Taylor's of Loughborough as a clock chime in 1946. They were made into a full circle ringing peal in 1954. The Tenor weighs seven and a half hundredweight and is tuned to B flat. We hear the bells ringing Plain Bob Doubles.

    A motorcyclist is still in hospital after a crash in Leeds yesterday morning.

    It happened at about 11:15 on Monkswood Avenue in Seacroft, at the junction with Monkswood Hill.

    The 21-year-old biker was travelling towards Monkswood Hill when he crashed head-on with a car, the bike then hit a van which was parked at the side of the road.

    The rider sustained serious injuries to his body and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he's still being treated and is in a critical condition.

    Police investigating the death of a man in Brighouse last week have released his name to the public.

    Carl Wood's body was found on Whinney Hill Park last Thursday just after 14:00.

    Mr Wood was 29 and lived on Eastwood Street, officers say they are now working to understand what led to his death.

    A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with his death but has now been released on bail pending investigation.
