Officers were called to the Tesco store on Richmonshire Walk at about 14:30 on Saturday, to reports a group of "Middle Eastern men had chased some young girls into the store" and security staff were called to intervene.

Officers say they've talked to those involved and "viewed clear CCTV footage which supports a version of events that states the girls started taking photos of the men who asked them to stop".

North Yorkshire Police say: "We're aware of what could be described as inflammatory comments on social media, and want to reassure people the incident is not as reported."

They are appealing to members of the public to stay calm and to "think carefully and not post any racist, inflammatory or antagonistic comments."

Dom Creed from Silsden, was with his family and other passengers travelling on a coach organised by airline Jet2 between Manchester and Leeds airports.

Mr Creed said the vehicle veered across lanes on the M62 motorway.

Mr Creed said he was sitting directly behind the coach driver with his son when he noticed the "driver's eyes were closed".
