    Mums-to-be in Doncaster are being targeted by a new health scheme.

    It sees midwives and a stop smoking service combining their efforts and they're underlining the risks posed by passive smoking.

    At an event to mark the new service, pregnant women were offered pampering sessions and some had their baby bumps painted.

    Police want to speak to these four men after a man was assaulted and mugged at Dewsbury train station.

    Officers have released the CCTV images in a bid to find the four men after the attack late last month.

    A man in his 30s, was walking across the overbridge, talking on his phone when four men came up to him and told him to hand his phone over.

    He refused, he was assaulted and the men ran off with his phone and bag - He was left with cuts on his head.

    Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has backed a devolution deal involving the whole of Yorkshire.

    Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has backed a devolution deal involving the whole of Yorkshire.

    The plan would see some powers given to Yorkshire by central government under the control of an elected mayor.

    Eighteen out of 20 authorities in Yorkshire support the so-called 'One Yorkshire' model, with Sheffield and Rotherham opting for a separate South Yorkshire solution.

    A devolution document was submitted to the government last month.

    The 'One Yorkshire' plan would see a directly elected Mayor for Yorkshire to be voted in to power by 2020.

    A woman from Bradford has admitted the manslaughter of an 18 month old boy who plunged from a sixth-floor flat.

    Elliot Procter suffered fatal injuries following the incident at Newcastle House, in Bradford, on 17 October last year.

    Gemma Procter, 23 of Barkerend Road, Bradford, entered a plea of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

    During a 10-minute hearing at Bradford Crown Court this morning Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC the Recorder of Bradford, said the case has been of "massive interest".

    Procter was remanded into custody and Judge Durham Hall indicated he will pass sentence at the next hearing scheduled for 16 June, after further medical reports.

    The father of a man killed by a hit-and-run driver in Leeds says he's hurt and angry the man responsible has been moved to an open prison, less than two years into his sentence.

    Majid Malik and Kaiz Mahmood were jailed for eight years in 2016 after a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

    They were racing in separate cars on the Stanningley Bypass at the time of the crash, when they knocked down 25-year-old James Gilbey and left him in the road.

    The court heard both drivers, who were from Bradford, reached speeds of nearly 80mph.

    Mr Gilbey, from Bramley, Leeds, died at the scene when Malik's car struck him.

    Mahmood's car did not hit James but he was found equally culpable.

    Police say a woman in her 20s has been the victim of a "serious sexual assault" in Whitby.

    Officers say the attack happened between 03:00 and 06:00 yesterday morning as the woman walked from Windsor Terrace onto Esk Terrace, following a night out in the town.

    Anyone who saw anything, or has any information, is being urged to contact North Yorkshire Police.

    A man has been rescued from a Yorkshire river after falling up to his waist while trying to avoid a herd of cows.

    It happened in Asenby, a village near Thirsk in North Yorkshire.

    North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to the River Swale in the village just after 17:00 yesterday.

    The man had been removed from the water by police by the time they arrived.

    Fire crew members said: the man had slipped in to his waist "whilst avoiding a herd of curious cows."

    A series of programmes and features from BBC Radio Sheffield Jenny Eells and Kat Harbourne aims to tackle the issue.

    While people also strip off for TV shows like Naked Attraction, How to Look Good Naked and The Full Monty, Kat says those programmes "treat nudity as a shock tactic, to get you scrutinising other people's bodies".

    The pair are featuring a variety of guests in a series of podcast interviews, all conducted naked, and they hope that people will shake off self-limiting thoughts about their own bodies.

    A Yorkshire father-of-three is to run the London Marathon dressed in a 5ft-wide poppy suit.

    Owen Willis, 49, from Scarborough, is attempting to gain the world record for the "fastest marathon dressed as a three-dimensional plant (male)".

    He has to complete the 26.2-mile race, being held on the coming weekend, in under five hours to beat the existing record.

    The poppy weighs almost half a stone (3kg) and comprises of 16 pieces that slot together.

    Mr Willis is hoping to raise £5,000 for the Royal British Legion and SSAFA, the armed forces charity.

    A Skoda estate hit pedestrians on Saturday night, leaving a woman in her 80s with a broken collarbone.

    A woman in her 70s suffered a sprained ankle while a third, aged in her 30s, had a broken tooth and leg injuries.

    Jake Hartley, 19, of Rochdale Road, Todmorden, has been charged with attempted wounding, three offences of assault and dangerous driving.

  20. Petition to reinstate Scarborough lifeboat coxswain growspublished at 08:45 British Summer Time 16 April 2018

    More than 4,300 people have now signed an online campaign calling for a long-serving lifeboat coxswain in Scarborough to be re-instated.

    Tom Clark had been a volunteer for the charity for more than 30 years.

    He was asked to stand down from the organisation for taking part in what's said to have been an "unauthorised training exercise" that put lives at risk.

    The petition states Mr Clark has "worked hard serving the public in dangerous situations on the sea".

    The RNLI has said a "major breach of policy" could not be ignored.
