Rocco Wright drowned in a pool at a David Lloyd fitness club in the Moortown area of the city on Saturday.

He had gone to a swimming lesson with his father Steven and according to a statement from the family's solicitors one of the instructors had not arrived for the lesson.

The rest of the parents and Mr Wright were told that "that all the children could not be accommodated" by the remaining instructor so decided to go swimming on their own.

Mr Wright said "It was at this point I decided I would forget the lesson and just swim with both my children only to realise I couldn’t see Rocco."

A spokesperson for David Lloyd said "All of our team at the club are deeply shocked and our thoughts are very much with the boy’s family at this sad time."
