    Firefighters from North and West Yorkshire are dealing with a large fire at a school near Tadcaster in North Yorkshire.

    The fire service says crews from Tadcaster, Selby, Pontefract and Leeds were called out to Sherburn High School just before midnight.

    The incident is now being scaled down, but two appliances remain at the scene.

    The school says the gymnasium and changing block has been damaged.

    It's not thought there was anyone in the building at the time.

    An an investigation will begin today into how the blaze started.

    The school will be closed today to staff and pupils.

    A major new exhibition showcasing photos from the Victorian era has arrived in Sheffield.

    Victorian Giants: The Birth of Art Photography is on loan from the National Portrait Gallery, with the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield the only place outside of London to host it.

    It brings together the works of four of the most celebrated figures in art photography, Lewis Carroll, Julia Margaret Cameron, Oscar Rejlander, and Clementina Hawarden.

    Officers say they've already visited numerous addresses in an attempt to locate Nathan Stone, 24, of Scarborough, because they believe he's still in the area.

    They're appealing to anyone who spots him, or might know where he is, to contact them as he could potentially have important information which would assist their investigation.

    An e-fit image of a man has been released after a woman was sexually attacked outside a Doncaster nursing home last month.

    The victim, a 40-year-old woman, was walking along Gattison Lane in Rossington early on Saturday 23 June when the attack took place, police say.

    It happened at about 00:45 outside the Benton House Nursing Home when the man reportedly became aggressive and violent towards her before sexually assaulting her.

    Anyone who recognises the man in the picture is being asked to contact police.

    A request by the Home Office for Scarborough to take up to 20 asylum seekers has been rejected by the borough council.

    Senior members said there wasn't enough money available and that discussions could take place with the government to find it.

    Following a cabinet meeting last month, it was discovered that if the council rejected the plan, the Home Office could have the power to enforce it anyway.

    Public protection orders targeting street drinking and aggressive begging in Rotherham could be extended to new parts of the town, police say.

    The public space protection orders, external are already in place in some parts of the town centre to control problems such as aggressive begging and street drinkers.

    Police say they've proved successful there, with a 27% reduction in anti-social behaviour over the past year.

    Three men have been jailed after a robbery at a jewellery shop in Rotherham earlier this year.

    The three masked men entered the Jewellery Exchange in the town centre on Monday 30 April and threatened a member of staff with a knife and metal bars.

    They stole a "significant" quantity of jewellery thought to be worth about £20,000 before being chased by police in their getaway car.

    At Sheffield Crown Court today, Lyle Copley (left), 22, of Cecil Avenue, Doncaster, was jailed for eight years after pleading guilty to robbery, threatening another with a blade and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

    Shakeel Hussain (centre), 26, of Bridge Close, Airmyn, in East Yorkshire, was jailed for four-and-a-half years for robbery.

    Declan Taylor (right), 21, of Walker Road, Rotherham, was jailed for four-and-a-half years for robbery and for possession of a blade.

    Bradford's first computer gaming festival is taking place today, with children from more than 50 schools taking part.

    Those taking part have been tasked with creating their own video game, with competitions for character design, concept and overall game.

    The Innovation Centre is behind the event, with hopes that some of those taking part could one day become video game developers.

    Lizzie Bell, a teacher at Eldwick Primary School, says: "I'm really proud of them and I know it's something that they enjoy doing.

    "It's broadened their interests but given them the ability to try coding, a skill they can eventually use in a job," she adds.
