    A teenage girl was left critically ill after the collision involving a car and a taxi in the early hours of Saturday.

    The four men died at the scene on the A6120 outer ring road, West Yorkshire Police said.

    They've been named as (left to right above) Caelan Megson, 21, Brandon Frew, 19, Declan Grove, 19, and Matt Walshaw, 18.

  3. Three-year-old boy killed after car hits tree on M62published at 09:58 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    A three-year-old boy died when the car he was travelling in collided with a tree on Sunday.

    The black Honda Civic was travelling westbound when it left the M62 near South Cave at about 16:00.

    Three other passengers, a 33-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries in the collision and the driver suffered minor injuries.

    All of those travelling in the car were from Batley in West Yorkshire.

    Two women have been injured, one seriously, after they were hit by a car in Doncaster this weekend.

    It happened at about 22:30 on Saturday evening on Bawtry Road near Doncaster town centre, involving a black Vauxhall Vectra.

    A 27-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

    Another pedestrian, a 30-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.

    Fire crews from Skipton, Grassington and Settle, and a Bradford team with an aerial ladder platform, have been tackling a fire at the House Of Fraser department store in Skipton.

    Fire officers say they've managed to prevent the blaze spreading throughout the three- storey building and no-one was injured.

    More than 75 soldiers who lost their lives in World War One have been honoured in Leeds Minster by a dozen transparent silhouettes.

    It is part of a national scheme called There But Not There, external.

    The event was held to coincide with the anniversary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme, on 1 July 1916 that involved the Leeds Pals battalion.

    David Hawkin, a researcher on the project, said: "It's very poignant like an earthly presence."

    The head of tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire, Sir Gary Verity, says Filey being named Beach of the Year by The Sunday Times, external is "much deserved."

    The paper's chief travel writer visited hundreds of Britain's beaches, from a surfer's paradise in Cornwall to secluded sands in Scotland and says: "Filey casts a spell turning you into a kid again."

    The five mile stretch of sand runs from the peninsula of Filey Brigg to the Bempton nature reserve.

    The beach at Filey is fairly wide, as you can see from the image above, and at low tide a quarter of a mile of sand is exposed.

    A man has been charged after another man was stabbed in a car at a Rotherham petrol station last week.

    Gareth Slater, 32, of Kilnhurst Road, Rawmarsh, has been charged with kidnap, GBH and possession of a bladed article and will appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court this morning.

    Armed police were seen on nearby streets following the incident at the Jet petrol station on Meadow Bank Road, Rawmarsh.

    A 39-year-old is still in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed.

    Craig Berridge, 38, of Grange Road, Rawmarsh, has also been charged with a number of offences in connection with the incident.

    Leeds Rhinos have sacked Brian McDermott, ending his status as the longest-serving head coach in Super League.

    During eight seasons at the club, McDermott won four Grand Finals, two Challenge Cups, a League Leaders' Shield and a World Club Challenge.

    But the Rhinos are currently eighth in the Super League table with four games remaining in the regular season.

    The club have been hampered by injuries this season and Thursday's 46-8 defeat at Wigan Warriors was their fourth loss in a row and a ninth in 12 matches in all competitions.

    Chief executive Gary Hetherington said the club will "forever be indebted" to McDermott.

    A woman is in hospital in Leeds after being hit by a double-decker bus in York.

    Police say the 26-year-old woman sustained a serious head injury in the incident outside the Missoula restaurant on Bridge Street, just after 21:00 on Saturday.

    She was treated at the scene by paramedics before going to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance.

    Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the incident to contact them.

    Detectives are appealing for witnesses to an attack in Huddersfield in which a man was stabbed several times and seriously injured.

    Officers were called to Kirkgate after a 28-year-old man had been found with "multiple stab wounds" at about 04:00 yesterday.

    He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment and his injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening by the force.

    The man could have been attacked after an altercation with a group of men at the Verve bar, in Byram Street, said police.

    The force is appealing for information.

    About 100 protesters have taken part in a march on a lifeboat station over the sacking of two volunteer crew members.

    Joe Winspear and Ben Laws were sacked last month over production of pornographic material, the RNLI previously said.

    Protesters went to the Whitby lifeboat station yesterday demonstrating for the reinstatement of the crew members.

    In response the RNLI said the decision to stand them down was taken "following a fair and robust investigation."

    The woman who accused Sheffield Hallam MP Jared O'Mara of verbal abuse, for which he's currently under investigation by the Labour Party, says she's not heard from Labour officials since December.

    Mr O'Mara, who denies the allegation, was suspended by Labour last October after offensive online comments emerged from his past.

    He was interviewed in February, but a decision on his future still hasn't been made.

    Labour says its investigation is ongoing, but Mr O'Mara's accuser, Sophie Evans, says that's "not how it seems."

    An investigation into a crash in Leeds in which four young men, three of them teenagers, died is continuing.

    A teenage girl was left critically ill after a collision involving a car and a taxi in the early hours of Saturday.

    The four men, aged 18, 19, 19, and 21, died at the scene on the A6120 outer ring road, West Yorkshire Police said.

    Two girls, aged 16 and 17 also in the car, were taken to hospital.

    The Uber taxi driver was also seriously hurt.

    The 16-year-old girl remains in a critical condition and the 17-year-old's injuries are not considered life threatening, West Yorkshire Police said.
