Sheffield woman's 'locked-in' recovery inspires filmpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 2 July 2018
A woman from Sheffield who suffered a severe brain stem stroke and was diagnosed with locked-in syndrome is hoping to raise money for a new feature film about her recovery.
Locked-in syndrome is a condition where sufferers can think, feel, see and hear, but move absolutely nothing below the eyelids.
Kate Allatt, 48, from Dore, suffered her stroke in 2010 but has since gone on to make a recovery which saw her walk off her hospital ward and renew her wedding vows (pictured).
Doctor Allatt says she's worked with families around the world to help them going through something similar.
Now, a crowdfunding campaign is under way to fund a feature film about her recovery in a bid to inspire doctors and change misconceptions about quality of life.
