    Three people have died in a car crash just outside York.

    It happened at about 20.20 on Monday night on the A1079 near Dunnington and involved a Peugeot travelling towards Hull, and a Nissan going towards York.

    The 44-year-old driver of the Peugeot died at the scene.

    A 68-year-old woman and a 71-year-old woman who were passengers in the back of the Nissan also died at the scene.

    The driver of the black Nissan Qashqai, an 80-year-old man, and the front seat passenger, a 78-year-old woman, were both taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

    Police want anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

    The Labour Party in Sheffield says it won't be commenting yet on a decision by the national party to reinstate Hallam MP Jared O'Mara.

    Mr O'Mara was suspended as part of investigation into his conduct.

    The conclusion is that he should be given a formal warning, with a mandatory requirement to attend training.

    The suspension last October followed the discovery of homophobic and misogynistic posts he'd made on social media.

    He's apologised for those, but has denied claims he verbally abused one of his constituents.

    The MP says he won't comment until he's seen the full ruling by Labour.

    An investigation is continuing today into a fire which caused major damage at a North Yorkshire school.

    North Yorkshire Police and the fire service are treating the fire at Sherburn High School, near Tadcaster, as suspicious.

    The blaze, which broke out at just before midnight on Monday caused "significant" damage, according to the fire service, with one building collapsing, causing the school to remain closed today.

    Tory frontbencher Jo Johnson told MPs an announcement on the Transpennine route upgrade would be made later this year following a Network Rail report.

    He said the scheme will include "major civil engineering projects and electrification" but stopped short of guaranteeing full electrification.

    Labour MP for Manchester Central, Lucy Powell, said it was a "blow".

    An e-fit image has been released by police after a 15-year-old boy was thrown to the floor and robbed by two teenage boys in Sheffield last month.

    It happened at about 19:25 on Saturday 2 June in Owlerton Green.

    The victim was followed through Hillsborough Park and attacked, with a chain then being stolen from around his neck and his mobile phone taken.

    An e-fit has only been released for one of the suspects.

    The other is described as about 16-years-old and about 5ft 7ins tall, with black swept-over hair and a moustache.

    One farm in Doncaster says the dry spell has had an impact on crops and animal feed and water is starting to run low.

    Charlotte Toothill, who is a farmer from Doncaster, says the harvest will also have to come earlier this year.

    "The grass is all drying up and burning off which means there's not enough feed for the sheep and cattle, so we might have to revert to going to the winter storage feed and using that up.

    "It has a big impact," she adds.

    Eden Ladley, from the National Union of Students, said: "The reason why LGBT+ people may want to live with other LGBT+ people is the realistic risk of harassment and intimidation that too many students find in their university accommodation."

    A fire which caused major damage at a North Yorkshire school overnight is being treated as "suspicious", according to the police.

    North Yorkshire Police has launched an investigation with the fire service into the blaze which broke out at Sherburn High School, near Tadcaster, at about 12:20 this morning.

    "Significant" damage was caused at the school, according to the fire service, with one building collapsing, causing the school to remain closed today.

    Ian Mcniff, from North Yorkshire Police, said: "We understand the impact the fire has had on the community and will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

    "If you believe you have information which may assist our investigation, please share this with us."
