  18. Tighter rules ahead for alcohol licensing in Leedspublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 4 July 2018

Council bosses in Leeds are tightening rules on alcohol licensing for certain areas of the city, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

A council committee meeting was told on Tuesday that areas such as Armley and Harehills were problem areas for alcohol-related crime and measures should be in place to limit the number of new licensed premises.

But other areas such as Chapel Allerton and Headingley, which already have such measures, known as Community Impact Policies, should have them relaxed.

These policies are used for areas which already have large numbers of pubs and bars which the council believes are at risk of alcohol-related crime and they make it more difficult for licence applications to be accepted.
