The Police Federation said yesterday prisoners in cells would be sleeping in better conditions than its officers, describing the situation as "not acceptable".

Millions of pounds are being spent improving sports facilities at York's former Burnholme Community College site.
The work will cost £2.4m but will mean facilities will be open for 75 hours a week.
They'll include a gym which will be fitted with accessible equipment to encourage more people to keep fit and healthy.
A million pound extension to the cycle route from Sheffield University into the city centre is set to be approved by the council, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The 0.75km section will extend the route from the university to Mappin Street.
The scheme is a requirement as part of £2.5m of funding from Sheffield City Region Investment Fund to improve highways works.
The planned work will include changes to the highway and improvements to road crossing points, and will be finished by December 2019, the report states.
The scheme will be discussed at a meeting of Sheffield City Council's cabinet on Wednesday 18 July.
