Northern Gas say it could be several days before the supply is restored.
Peter Hunter, from Caring for You in Wakefield, says his company is providing hundreds of hot meals for vulnerable people in the village.
He says: "It's our community, my carers live in the village, we all need to work together to help the vulnerable."
Mr Hunter estimates it'll cost Northern Gas "several thousand pounds" to cover the cost of the meals.
A community drop-in centre has also been set up at Netherton Village Hall.
The most Yorkshire of days (that's Yorkshire Day folks) is almost upon us, and what better way to celebrate than breaking a world record with flat caps.
On 1 August at Leeds Kirkgate Market, proper Yorkshire folk are invited to break a world record for the highest number of people wearing a flat cap in one place at the same time.
The market's target is 250 people, we're not sure if the two fellas above will be turning up though.
You have to be over 18 and if you're not a proper Yorkshire person and don't have a flat cap (why are you even here?) you can buy special ones for the event at the market.
Engineers are working to fix Beverley Minster's bells and clock which have been out of action for over a month.
Mike Robson (pictured right), tower captain and steeple-keeper at the Minster, says the clock's winding motor had broken.

Police in Leeds say they are "concerned for the wellbeing" of a missing 12-year-old girl from Leeds.
Alyssa Wood, from Middleton, was last seen in yesterday evening at around 20:00.

A new film which explores the impact of City of Culture on working people in Hull is premiering in the city today.
It was created by Hull film maker Sean McAllister.
It features Steve Arnott from the beats bus, a mobile recording studio which visited Hull estates.

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Sheffield early this morning.
A 23-year-old was walking on Headford Street in the city centre just after midnight when he was hit by a blue Mercedes A Class car.
He is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition, police say.
A 24-year-old man was treated for minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Police are appealing for information.
Festival goers will have to catch the bus to get to a Sheffield festival this weekend, due to a planned strike by tram drivers and conductors.
About 200 drivers and conductors will walk out over a pay row starting tomorrow, with a limited tram service in place for the Tramlines festival.
Festival organisers have advised people going to the festival site at Hillsborough Park to either get the tram part-way, or take a replacement bus service.
They say extra buses have been put on to help deal with the thousands of people heading to the site.
There are calls to protect one of York's four medieval gateways from damage caused by traffic.
Micklegate Bar is the last of the city's historic entrances to have unrestricted vehicle access through it.
The gateway was the most important of the four main entrances, as it was the main route to the city for anyone arriving from the south.
Labour councillors want it closed to outbound traffic.

Family and friends of a teenager killed in a car crash in Leeds last month will gather for his funeral later.
Matt Walshaw, who was 18-years-old, was one of four young men who died in the crash in Horsforth.
The funerals of two others, Declan Grove, who was 19, and 21-year-old Caelan Megson have also taken place this week.
Two teenage girls, who were passengers in the car, were also injured, along with the taxi driver.
The group had just left a party in Horsforth when it happened.

Engineers are in the process of switching off all affected properties.
Then work can begin to extract the water from the main.
Russ Kaye, from Northern Gas said: “Our engineers are working hard to get the gas back on as quickly as possible.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience and co-operation while we work to restore the supply.
“In our experience of similar incidents, where water has got into our pipes, it could take at least two to three days to get people back on gas."

A crowdfunding campaign has been started after dozens of well-wishers got behind him.
Paul says: "I'm overwhelmed with the help and support people have offered, it's unbelievable."
South Yorkshire Fire Service has confirmed it was a "deliberate fire".
Hull could host a stage of next year's Tour de Yorkshire, but only if councillors believe it's worth spending taxpayers money on the event.
East Riding council spent more than £100,000 to host a stage four-years-ago - the race also started this year in Beverley.
Council officers in Hull will report later today.
