    A convicted murderer who has been on the run for more than a year has been arrested in Leeds.

    Shaun Walmsley, who was serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 30 years, escaped in February last year when two men armed with a knife and a gun confronted guards outside Aintree University Hospital during a visit from HMP Walton.

    Walmsley was arrested after armed officers stopped a car in Harehills, Leeds, on Tuesday.

    The 29-year-old has been charged with escape from lawful custody and is due to appear at Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates' Court later.

    It caused the evacuation and closure of Sainsburys supermarket in the Market Place on Tuesday morning.

    Emergency planners from Harrogate Borough Council have been working with police and the fire service.

    The North Yorkshire cathedral city has become known for the regular appearance of sinkholes in recent years.

    In 2016, a 74-year-old woman described her lucky escape after she almost fell into a 30ft-deep sinkhole which appeared in her back garden in Magdelen's Road.

    In November 2016, seven properties were evacuated in Magdalen's Road when a 49ft by 49ft hole opened up behind a terrace of houses.

    Two years earlier, 400 yards away in Magdalen's Close, a house had to be demolished after a sinkhole formed.

    The funeral of a six-year-old boy who was fatally shot in the abdomen with a pellet gun in Sproatley, near Hull, last month, is due to take place later.

    Stanley Metcalf's family say he was a "vibrant" little boy, full of energy, who adored football and just wanted to have fun.

    Relatives said the support received following Stanley's death had been "incredibly touching".

    The funeral would be a day "dedicated to him and for him" and a fun day will be held afterwards for Stanley's family, school and football friends.

    Organiser Kayleigh Pepper said: "It is to do something Stanley would have loved, to see his friends playing and having a fabulous time."

    An investigation is under way into Stanley's death but no arrests have been made, said Humberside Police.

    Leeds United fought back to preserve their unbeaten start to the season with an exhilarating draw at Swansea City last night.

    Oli McBurnie finished a fine team move to give the vibrant hosts a deserved lead but Kemar Roofe tapped in to level before half-time.

    McBurnie restored Swansea's lead with a superb arcing header.

    But Leeds substitute Patrick Bamford set up former Swan Pablo Hernandez to sweep in a low equaliser, taking his side to the top of the Championship.

    Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa said: "We have won this game and we have lost it too. It was a nice game to watch. There are some important aspects we have to correct."

    A mother of two from Barnsley who was scammed out of almost £1,300 when her friend's Facebook account was hacked is warning others to avoid becoming victims.

    Megan Riley says she owes the cash after receiving a message from a friend asking her to lend him some money via PayPal.

    She says: "When you believe that person is your friend, you don't doubt it do you? I kind of got past the point of feeling stupid and I got to anger.

    "I have two young children, I'm going to get married soon and £1,300 is a month's wage."

    Ms Riley's bank has said nothing can be done to repay the money and she says she's worried about how she can clear the debt.
