Residents welcome flood defence planspublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 21 August 2018
People in Hull have welcomed plans to improve flood defences on the Humber.
The Environment Agency (EA) has submitted plans to spend £42 million on new defences to protect 113,000 homes and businesses.
One resident told the BBC: "It's the right thing to do, because if you live in this area and you know the surge of the tide can be quite high, you're always nervous about your house being flooded."
If the plans are approved, the EA says the works would be completed by the end of 2020.
