'Unusual slug' sparks 999 call to policepublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 3 September 2018
A woman from South Yorkshire called 999 to report "an unusual slug in her garden", according to police.
The unnamed woman rang the emergency line, with South Yorkshire Police saying inappropriate calls are commonplace.
The force says the "frankly wacky" calls included complaints about takeaway deliveries not arriving.
Chief Constable Stephen Watson says those kinds of calls are slowing response times to genuine emergencies.
