A man is arrested in Hull in connection with attempts to set fire to two city centre banks.
Read MoreThere's no suggestion that petrol attacks on two banks in Hull city centre this afternoon are linked to terrorism, according to Humberside Police.
The force says its officers were called to a report a man was carrying "a bladed weapon and a container with liquid thought to be petrol" at about 13:00.
The man entered two banks on King Edward Street and set fire to some of the liquid.
Officers and fire crews "responded quickly" and the man was arrested at Hull Paragon station and is now in custody, police say.
No-one was injured in the incident, but police are still advising members of the public to avoid the area.
Quote MessageWe are mindful of the public's concern that these types of incidents may be related to terrorism, however there is nothing to suggest that this is anything other than an isolated incident which has been dealt with promptly by the responding police and emergency services."

Following a petrol attack on a branch of Santander in Hull city centre, a man has now been led out of Hull Paragon Station on a stretcher.
It's not clear whether this is the assailant or not but he was guarded by several officers as he was taken to an ambulance.
More than 30 police officers are currently at the scene - both armed and unarmed - and the station is now completely closed.
It's connected to the incident in Queen Victoria Square where bystanders suggest a man threw petrol inside two banks and he had a knife.

A North Yorkshire teacher has been jailed for 12 years for manipulating people around the world to sexually abuse children in their care.
Richard Clark, from Thirsk, was branded a "malign puppet master" by a judge as he was jailed.
York Crown Court heard how Clark convinced web-users to send images and recordings of their own relatives.
In one instance, the person being photographed was so young a nappy could be seen.
The 29-year-old also used fake social media accounts to pose as a teenager, pretending to be friends with victims and asking they send indecent photographs of themselves.
Clark, of Topcliffe Road, also kept a record of his victims, categorising them based on appearance, the size of their genitalia and the ways he had abused them.
He admitted to ten counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, three of distributing indecent photographs of a child, nine of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity or send indecent images, three of possession of indecent photographs of a child and one of possession of an extreme pornographic image.
A further 54 offences were taken into consideration.
The offences took place between April 2016 and April 2018, ending when he was arrested by officers from North Yorkshire Police.

Councillor Tony Wallis made the remarks during a debate about Wakefield District Council's economic plan for the next five years.
A key part of the plan is to attract more businesses to the city centre and to the Five Towns by offering them support with things like employee training.
Mr Wallis said: "Certainly within Castleford, I get people saying, 'We won't go into the town centre.'
"On the other hand, we're trying to get businesses from outside to come here. But to do that we've got to have a town centre where people want to go."
Cars racing along a dual carriageway in Barnsley are making so much noise locals claim they can't sleep at night.
Unofficial car meets are common at Cortonwood near the retail park, but police have also been dealing with cars racing at 100mph along the nearby Dearne Valley Parkway.
Councillor Denise Lelliot, who has lived in Brampton all her life, says the noise is unbearable.
"You can't have your windows open on a night, it's terrible.
"You can't go to bed early because the noise is horrendous as it comes through with cars racing up and down.
"The young men and women turning up and showing their cars off isn't an issue, it's when they start racing up and down and doing the doughnut.
"It's so dangerous not just for the people driving the cars, but for other road people travelling on that stretch of road."
South Yorkshire Police recently wrote an open letter to the racers "begging" them to stop racing before someone died.

Leeds Art Gallery will celebrate its 130th birthday later this month by displaying work by West Yorkshire artist Francis Butterfield.
A collection of works by the Bradford-born artist, who died in 1968, will go on display for the first time from the end of this month until January.
Works will include Figure Derivation (pictured above) which was the first abstract work to enter Leeds Art Gallery's collection in 1937.
Sarah Brown, principal keeper at the gallery, says Butterfield was an artist with "very strong Yorkshire roots".
"His work often incorporated materials reflecting his early career in local industry, including sand, brick dust and the lens of a flash-lamp," she says.
Leeds Art Gallery was founded in 1888 and claims to be one of the city's most visited attractions.
Sightings of the honey bee-killing Asian hornet have been confirmed in Hull, according to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
The Asian hornet is smaller than the native hornet and poses no greater risk to human health than a bee, but does pose a risk to honey bees.
The hornets feed by hovering in front of bee hives. They intercept returning bees, bite their heads off and then eat the rest, a behaviour called hawking.
Work is under way to identify nests in Hull and Defra says people should remain vigilant and report any sightings of the hornet.
A York man is beginning a five-and-a-half year jail sentence for manslaughter after injecting a man with heroin in a shop doorway in the city.
Jordan Hipkins (pictured), 24, of North Street, York, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court yesterday for causing the death of 44-year-old James Moore.
He also received two three-month jail terms for assault and criminal damage, after attacking a taxi and its driver.
Police received a call from the ambulance service who were administering CPR to Mr Moore who had collapsed in York's Micklegate area in May last year.
Mr Moore, of no fixed address, was resuscitated and taken to hospital where he later died.
CCTV showed Hipkins injecting Mr Moore with a substance that turned out to be heroin - the post mortem showed Mr Moore died from the effects of heroin and alcohol.
Quote MessageHipkins waited until the last minute to admit his guilt, putting Mr Moore’s only surviving relative through the ordeal of the court process until he eventually pleaded guilty."

The New Collaborative Learning Trust hopes to open New College Bradford on the former site of Britannia Mills, next to Trafalgar House Police Station.
On Thursday Bradford Council's Regulatory and Appeals Committee will decide whether to grant planning permission for the college, one of the biggest city centre developments in years.
And the trust, which also runs New College Pontefract and New College Doncaster, will be hoping the plans are approved without any stumbling blocks, as the school is due to open to students in September 2019.
