    Retailers in a West Yorkshire town say repeated rail strikes are hitting their tourism trade.

    There's been a reduced service on Northern trains on Saturdays because of industrial action from the RMT union.

    Another strike tomorrow will be the 37th walk-out since March 2017.

    Traders in Hebden Bridge say there's been a drop in the number of visitors as a result.

    Alison Bartram, from Hebden Bridge Heart Gallery, says: "We're just not getting our tourists.

    "We rely on those people coming out from Manchester or Leeds and from other parts of Yorkshire or Lancashire.

    "We're on the middle of that journey and [the tourists] are just not coming through."

    People visiting the remains of a village, flooded to create a reservoir, are destroying history by throwing bricks, according to one woman.

    Clare Whittaker, from Sheffield, took photos of dozens of people enjoying the low water level at Ladybower reservoir, but said some people were deliberately damaging the ruins.

    Derwent village was flooded when the reservoir was built, the remains of the village have been exposed as the reservoir's water levels dropped during the long dry summer.

    Visiting last week, Clare said she saw adults with children taking bricks off walls and throwing them, saying she was "very upset" to see what was happening.

    Police officers are trying to find a man who punched a 14-year-old boy in the face on a cycle path in York.

    It's thought the cyclist clipped the bike of the boy, became aggressive, then punched the boy in the jaw.

    It happened on Tuesday 13 November at about 08:20 on Hob Moor, near to Hob Stone Court.

    The man is described as white, aged between 30 and 35, has a skinny build and ginger hair.

    He was wearing blue cycle shorts and blue jumper.

    West Yorkshire Police officers are urgently trying to find a missing 11-year-old boy.

    Nathan Harnett, from Beeston, Leeds, was reported missing by his family at 22:13 last night.

    He was last seen walking down Woodhouse Cliff towards a bus stop after leaving school shortly after 15:00.

    He is described as white, 4ft 9in tall, of medium build, with short dark brown hair.

    He was wearing a black Leeds City Academy blazer, white shirt, red coat, and black shoes and had a Nike rucksack.

    Police are investigating claims a woman was attacked in the street by a group of children using homemade whips.

    Sharon Hall said she was struck twice in an incident earlier this month in the Firth Park area of Sheffield.

    Ms Hall claimed those responsible were from the Roma-Slovak community.

    South Yorkshire Police said it was aware young people in the area had begun making and carrying "whip-type implements" and is investigating Ms Hall's allegations.

    Ms Hall said: "I was struck a couple of times, once on my back and once on the back of my calf.

    "There were about six or seven Slovakian Gypsy children and three of them had got whips."

    She said the whips appeared to be made from a piece of wood and a length of washing line.

    A champion boxer from Hull has been given a share of £330,000 of Home Office money to help beat youth crime in East Yorkshire.

    Tommy Coyle, from Hull, runs a mobile gym and the Boxclever programme, which is designed to engage children and young people in areas of high crime and deprivation.

    The former Commonwealth lightweight champion says he wants to teach local children "right from my wrongs".

    He said: "I made a hell of a lot of wrong decisions as a young lad and if it wasn't for boxing I would have got into much, much more trouble."

    The Tommy Coyle Foundation is one of four projects in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire to receive money from the Home Office's Early Intervention Youth Fund".

    The National Videogame Arcade (NVA), dubbed a National Gallery for Gaming, is set to open in Sheffield.

    The museum, the only one of its kind in the UK, closed in Nottingham in September saying its home was "too hard" to operate in because of its layout.

    It's now moved to Castle House in Sheffield and will open on Saturday.

    A mother whose newborn baby was abandoned outside a vicarage two years ago has been asked to come forward so her son can be "laid to rest".

    The baby boy was found in a Tesco bag for life outside St Peter's Church in Bramley, Leeds on 23 November 2016.

    He was taken to hospital by ambulance but was later pronounced dead.

    The boy was found near the doorstep of the vicarage wrapped in a blue striped towel and a white, 15in collar man's shirt made by Dunnes at about 09:00.

    He was white and full term but despite the mum's DNA being found, there was no match on the police database.

    Police officers are stressing she's not in trouble and should have the chance to say goodbye to her child.

    An arson hotline has been set up in Hull after a rise in the number of fires started deliberately.

    Humberside Fire and Rescue say there have been more than 1,200 arson attacks since April, 300 more than the whole of the previous year.

    It has set up a text line so people can alert the fire service to problems.

    Police have released details for the first time, external of 10 men who've been made subject of the first ever injunction against gang violence in Kirklees, West Yorkshire.

    The so-called "gangbo" was taken out against a group of men in Huddersfield in April restricting their movements and who they can associate with.

    But it's now emerged that a number of them breached the terms of the order and have been back before the courts.

    Ch Supt Julie Sykes says: "We are confident that in taking these extraordinary steps and by continuing to enforce these injunctions, that it will have a significant impact on violent crime and disorder in Huddersfield."

    Plans for new flood defences in Hessle have gone on display in the town.

    The plans include a concrete and glass wall, similar to the one at Paull (pictured) and raising the road near the north tower of the Humber Bridge.

    Thousands of homes and businesses could be protected by the proposed flood defences along Hessle Foreshore which are now on display at Hessle Town Hall,

    They would also help protect the nearby A63, railway line and electrical substations.

    Andy Cooper, principal engineer with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said it was vital to prepare for the risk of flooding.

    A new multi-million pound warship is to be named HMS Sheffield, more than 35 years after its namesake was hit by a missile in the Falklands War.

    The Type 26 frigate is one of eight anti-submarine vessels to be built and will be the fourth HMS Sheffield to serve the Royal Navy.

    A £3.7bn order for the first three ships was placed in 2017.

    Twenty people died and 26 were injured when an Exocet missile hit HMS Sheffield in 1982.

    The name of the new vessel was revealed by Defence Minister Stuart Andrew at Chesterfield Special Cylinders, in Sheffield, which makes high pressure gas storage systems for the ships.
