The bowler's skating for the very first time in his life as he prepares to star in the new series starting in January.

Sidebottom and his dance partner Brandee Malto took a short break from their training schedule to meet fans at the ice rink at Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland in York.

  19. 'Let's move on' - Sheffield Council on trees inquirypublished at 09:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2018

Sheffield City Council says it's not interested in an inquiry into how the city's tree replacement programme has been handled.

    A fallen treeImage source, PA

It follows a compromise being reached between campaigners and the council in a long-running row over the felling of Sheffield's street trees.

Councillor Lewis Dagnall, cabinet member for environment and streetscene, says the council has been scrutinised already and has acknowledged its mistakes.

"I think there's absolute consensus that we need to find a way forward that lets us move on as a city", he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"What I've heard from people is that they want me and my colleagues at the council to put our energy into finding constructive ways forward and not simply raking over the past."

Work has been on hold since March following clashes between workers and campaigners during protests about the future of Sheffield's street trees.

Now, no healthy tree will be felled in the city unless no other solution can be found with a new tree strategy being drawn up between the council, contractors and campaigners.

Thousands of trees have been felled since the start of a £2.2bn 25-year programme of works, having been assessed as either dangerous, dead, diseased, dying, damaging or discriminatory.

They are being replaced with saplings.

However, many of the trees classed as damaging or discriminatory are healthy specimens which should not be cut down but saved, say campaigners.

They say amendments should be made to surrounding pavements and roads.

The dispute led to a number of protests resulting in the authority announcing a pause in the programme earlier this year.

  20. More police won't stop Leeds red light fears - Campaignerspublished at 09:25 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2018

Campaigners calling for an end to Leeds' managed red light zone say extra police officers may not be enough to deal with problems around the area.

    Prostitute

The "managed approach" in Holbeck started in 2014 and allows women to sell sex between specified hours.

A team of four extra officers was announced yesterday as the council steps up efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.

But campaigners say they fear a forthcoming redevelopment of Holbeck will just move the problem elsewhere.

One of the campaigners, Claire Bentley-Smith, says: "Within the next year there are going to be building projects starting on the edge of the zone

So punters and prostitutes are probably going to start to disperse, in fact we already know that they are."
