    An East Yorkshire charity is hoping to raise thousands of pounds with its new shop at a recycling site.

    Dove House Hospice is taking over at the Humberfield site in Hessle, where people can buy unwanted items which are still in good condition such as furniture and TVs.

    The organisation will take over the shop in January.

    A woman has died after being hit by a van in North Yorkshire.

    The 86-year-old was crossing the A61 in Ripon from the bus stop when she was hit by a white Citroen Berlingo on Friday at about 16:50.

    She was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary but died in the early hours of Saturday morning.

    North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses to the crash.

    Several buildings on a street in Bradford could be demolished to create a new city square, if plans get the go-ahead.

    The council wants to buy some properties on Darley Street, including the former M&S building, in order to carry out its plan.

    The new square will regenerate the Broadway and Piccadilly areas with hopes there will also be space for an outdoor market and events, the authority says.

    Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a hit-and-run in Rotherham.

    The crash happened on Friday at about 23:00 when a black VW Jetta hit a stationary car on Quarry Hill Road in Wath-upon-Dearne.

    A 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, police say. The car then drove away from the scene.

    A 27-year-old man has been questioned, according South Yorkshire Police.

    The force is appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
