    Bus passengers in North Yorkshire could face severe disruption as hundreds of drivers start a week-long strike in a dispute over pay.

    Drivers from Arriva want a pay rise of an extra £1 an hour.

    The Unite union said drivers were the second-lowest paid in the country, but Arriva said it had made "considerable concessions" in the pay talks.

    It comes as staff at the Keighley Bus Company in Bradford postponed a strike that was due to start today.

    Arriva said an emergency timetable would be operating between 6 and 12 January.

    A man is due in court later to be sentenced after sexually assaulting a police officer while waving around a for sale sign in Sheffield.

    Luca Jelic, 29, was naked from the waist down and groped the officer after police were called to Scotland Street, Sheffield, on 27 April.

    The officer told Sheffield Crown Court Jelic attacked her as they were on the floor and she could not move his hand.

    Jelic, of Scotland Street, was found guilty of sexual assault.

    He's due to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court later.

    The search is on for York City's third manager in less than six months.

    Fans will be wondering who'll replace Sam Collins, who was sacked after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Curzon Ashton.

    A lack lustre second-half performance saw City slip to another defeat against a part time club, leaving them 15th position in National League North, York’s third loss in four matches.

    Late on Saturday night, York City issued a statement saying Sam Collins had "left the club with immediate effect."

    City's sporting director, Dave Penny, has taken over management duties on a temporary basis, until a new manager is appointed.

    Sam Collins was York City's 7th manager since 2013.

    The club are now looking for their 8th manager in six years.

    Two men are due in court today charged with grievous bodily harm and assault by beating, following an incident in the early hours of Saturday in Bridlington.

    Police say a woman and a man were allegedly assaulted outside the Apollo pub on Prince Street just after 01:00.

    Kieran Evans, 25, of Windsor Crescent in Bridlington and Nathan Shimmells, 26, of Tennyson Avenue in Bridlington, have been charged in connection with the incident.

    They’re due to appear at Hull Magistrates' Court later.

    Sheffield United Women said in a statement it was "aware of the post on social media and have already begun an investigation to determine the full facts".

    Spurs, who said the alleged incident was reported to the referee by Hector during the game, also reported it to the FA.

    An FA statement read: "We take all allegations of discrimination very seriously and will be making enquiries into the matter."

    A £47m plan to upgrade roads between Bradford and Shipley is "absolutely vital", a councillor has said.

    The proposals include widening a number of roads, as well as improving cycling, pedestrian and public transport routes on Manningham Lane and Canal Road.

    Views are being sought on the scheme, external by Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

    Shipley councillor Kevin Warnes said the public consultation was "crucial" for the improvements to go ahead.

    The A650 Manningham Lane and A6037 Canal Road are the two main "corridors" between Bradford and Shipley.

    The public consultation runs until 8 February.

    More than 4,500 people have objected to plans to build houses next to Askham Bog near York, the oldest nature reserve in Yorkshire.

    The 120-acre site was left behind by a retreating glacier 15,000 years ago.

    The plans involve building 500 houses and a school.

    The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, which manages Askham Bog, is concerned the scheme will lead to a lowering of the water table and will dry out the bog.

    Broadcaster and naturalist, Sir David Attenborough, has described the area as "irreplaceable."

    It's thought the increase could save about £18,000 for some schools.

    Former Mayor of Hull, Colin Inglis, says parents shouldn't have to pay the bill, but Hull City Council say financial pressures faced by schools means it has no option.

    Yorkshire has seen the biggest cut in post office branches in England, that's according to new research carried out by the BBC.

    There are plans to move six post offices into WH Smith stores across North and East Yorkshire.

    Some local MPs say the proposals should be scrapped.

    The Post Office says it's doing everything it can to maintain local services.
