    Depending where you are in Yorkshire this Monday morning, it might feel positively mild compared to recent temperatures.

    The recent snowy weather may be on its way out, for the moment at least, but here's just a reminder of how spectacular Yorkshire can look under a covering of the white stuff.

  2. 'Knife Angel' statue goes on display in Hullpublished at 08:07 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2019

    A sculpture of an angel which is made out of 100,000 knives seized by police goes on display in Hull today.

    The statue was created as a tribute to victims of knife crime and is coming to the city as part of a campaign to stop young people carrying weapons.

    The Knife Angel will be installed at the city's Queens Gardens and includes some knives collected by Humberside Police.

  3. First rush hour after Selby bridge closes for repairspublished at 07:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2019

    Drivers in Selby are facing their first rush hour since the closure of a bridge which is one of the main routes into and out of the town.

    The old toll bridge was shut yesterday and will stay closed for up to three weeks for essential maintenance work.

    The work will include waterproofing timber below the bridge's decking, according to North Yorkshire County Council.

  5. Drug for Parkinson's trialled for first time in Sheffieldpublished at 07:26 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2019

    A drug which could slow down Parkinson's disease is being trialled for the first time in Sheffield.

    The groundbreaking study, led by researchers at the University of Sheffield in partnership with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, will assess the safety of the liver drug UDCA in Parkinson's patients.

    Professor Oliver Bandmann, who's leading the research, says if the trial is successful the drug could have a "huge effect".

    There will be cloud in the early part of the day, but any lingering patchy rain and blustery winds should clear with brightening skies and sunny spells during the morning.

    It should be dry this afternoon with spells of sunshine.

    Lengthening clear spells are expected through this evening and into tonight where it will turn chilly with some fog patches forming locally:

  7. Libby Squire: Search for missing Hull student continuespublished at 06:55 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2019

    The search for a Hull University student who went missing after going for a night out on Thursday is continuing.

    Libby Squire was last seen by her friends getting into a taxi outside The Welly on Beverley Road, Hull, at about 23:00 on Thursday.

    She got out of a taxi near her home on Wellesley Avenue and was last seen on CCTV at about 23:45 on Beverley Road.

    This weekend, police dogs were used and hundreds of students turned out to help, with Humberside Fire and Rescue and the Coastguard also involved in the search.

    Miss Squire's mother has thanked people helping to search for her daughter.

    Police said there were a number of leads they were pursuing over the 21-year-old's disappearance.

  9. Morrisons factory evacuated after chemical leakpublished at 06:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2019

    A chemical leak has sparked the evacuation of Morrisons' own-label factory in Bradford.

    It happened at the Farmers Boy factory, off Cemetery Road in Four Lane Ends, at about 21:00 last night.

    Emergency services, including specialist officers from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service wearing breathing apparatus and protective suits, were called out to the site.

    Yorkshire Ambulance Service's Hazardous Area Response team was also on scene.

    No injuries were reported following the evacuation.

    Staff were sent home and the fire service found and isolated the ammonia leak.
