    The group says the city is perfectly placed both economically and geographically to help boost growth in the North.

    Horse racing in Britain will resume on Wednesday after a six-day shutdown following an outbreak of equine flu.

    Racing at Doncaster was halted after three cases of equine flu at Donald McCain's Cheshire stables.

    Demolition work is due to start later this week to make way for the major £130m redevelopment in Hull.

    Buildings behind the former BHS building will be pulled down as part of the Albion Square development.

    The site has also been suggested as a possible location for a new ice arena.

    The East Riding Council has defended its decision to spend £3m renovating Bridlington Town Hall at a time of austerity.

    The year-long work will be paid for by a separate budget that wouldn't have been used to fund services, according to the council.

    It's understood by the BBC that the job centre will be moved to the town hall as part of the work.

    It's hoped the renovation work will save money in the long run, the authority said.

    Some roads in Leeds are among the most congested in the country, according to new figures.

    Leeds Road to Saltaire Road in Leeds was the fourth worst and the most congested road outside of London.

    Huddersfield Road and Leeds Road, linking Dewsbury and Huddersfield was also in the top 10 list.

    Traffic data firm Inrix said UK motorists lost the equivalent of a week each to jams in 2018.

    Visiting restrictions introduced after an outbreak of norovirus at York hospital have been partially lifted.

    They were introduced at the end of January.

    Staff say most wards have now reopened, but they're asking that no young children are brought into the hospital for visiting purposes.

    The hospital says the situation is being reviewed on a daily basis.

    A woman has been hit by a tram in Sheffield this morning.

    It happened at about 06:30 on West Street.

    South Yorkshire Police confirmed the woman suffered "superficial injuries" in the incident.

    The road was blocked but has since reopened.

    Sheffield Wednesday chief executive Katrien Meire has left the club after just over a year.

    The Belgian joined Wednesday on 1 January 2018 after four years in the same role at Charlton Athletic.

    Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri put the club up for sale in December.

    He said in January the club could face a second transfer embargo in less than a year.

    More than 170,000 people in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire complained about their bins not being emptied last year.

    The total number of missed bin collections rose to just over 40,000 in South Yorkshire last year, according to BBC figures.

    This was a rise of 13% from 2014 when councils missed just over 32,000 collections.

    All South Yorkshire councils saw an increase in missed collections from 2014, apart from Barnsley where the total fell by just over 8,000 in that period.

    A man who was found lying unconscious on a road in Rotherham after a serious assault has died.

    The 39-year-old man died after sustaining life-threatening injuries.

    He was found on Midland Road at about 18:30 on 4 February and died on 10 February.

    Police are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

    Det Ch Insp James Axe said: "We are aware that there were people in the area at the time of the offence and I would ask that these individuals contact us."

    Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a cyclist suffered life-changing injuries in a crash involving a lorry in Hull last month.

    The 58-year-old suffered head and chest injuries in the collision near traffic lights at the junction of the A165 Holderness Road and the A1033 Mount Pleasant.

    The cyclist continues to recover following the incident which happened at about 06:15 on Monday 28 January, police say.
