The forward scored a brace against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, passing the 20-goal mark for the season.

Hull City said he became only the third player to reach this figure in the club's last 15 seasons, while also beating a record set by Bill Bradbury in a seven-game run in the 1950s.

The 22-year-old said: "With regards to setting a new club record, it wasn’t something that I was actually aware of.

"I think it was my girlfriend that told me about it and showed me an article saying I’d equalled a record that had been set back in 1958-59.

“That was a weird one to see, but obviously I’m happy to have put my name in the record books here and an achievement that gives me a lot of pride.”

  4. Sisters not properly warned before waterfall deathspublished at 11:15 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2019

Two young Sheffield tourists who plunged to their deaths in a Vietnam waterfall were not properly warned of the dangers after they went down a water-sliding attraction, a coroner has ruled.

Sisters Izzy Squire, 19, and Beth Anderson, 24, died with friend Christian Sloan, 24, from Kent, as they took part in a popular guided day trip in the Dalanla waterfalls in February 2016.

Sheffield coroner Chris Dorries heard how the trio wore life jackets and helmets as they slid head first down a natural water slide before ending up in a 6ft-deep pool.

But, instead of exiting the pool, the trio disappeared over the next tier of the river complex and died when they went over a 50ft-high waterfall.

The inquest heard how their guide, Dang Van Si, claimed he warned them about how to get out of the pool safely, but this was contradicted by a range of witnesses.

On Tuesday, the coroner said he did not accept Mr Van Si's account and ruled that he had either not given a warning at all or not ensured it was properly understood.

Mr Dorries said that, contrary to reports at the time, the three travellers had done nothing to compromise their own safety.

The two supermarket giants are battling to convince the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to allow them to join forces, a move that would see them leapfrog Tesco to be the biggest in the country.

The CMA said last month a merger would see higher prices and less choice.

It said it could block the deal.

The CMA said that if it did allow the merger to proceed, it could force the sale of a large number of stores or even one of the brand names.

Dozens of demonstrators stopped traffic on Sheaf Street across the pedestrian crossing near to the railway station.

One driver, who was at the front of the traffic queue and didn't want to be named, said it had made him late for work and his son late for school.

"It's ridiculous," he said. "They can stand at the side of the road and bring their cause to a lot more people.

"I can see what they're saying because I'm at the front of the queue.

"People further back are just going to drive straight past it."

Another driver who was caught in the disruption said she didn't mind being late because people were "trying to make a difference".

"I think it's brilliant. I don't mind being a little bit late to work."

North Yorkshire County Council is to be asked to allow town and parish councils and neighbourhood groups to buy, install and maintain their own vehicle-activated signs, which light up to alert drivers they're exceeding the speed limit.

County councillor Don Mackenzie, said: "Many parishes are interested in purchasing and installing their own vehicle-activated signs on the highway in their communities to deter speeding.

"While there are concerns the proliferation of such equipment on our highways may reduce the impact of the signs already in place, we've listened to requests from members and parishes, and last year began the process to change our policy and allow the purchase of such signs.

"We'll now consider our officers' detailed report on the various stages involved in deploying third-party-owned vehicle-activated signs on the public highway."

The work forms part of the northern port's £27.4m bid to become a Maritime City.

Four hundred paintings from Hull Maritime Museum were assessed by experts to see which were historically and artistically most important, and which needed most work.

Among the chosen artworks is a large painting of the ship which took Charlie Chaplin to the US in 1910.

A portrait of a Hull dock master's wife has also been repaired and restored.

Five specialist art restorers from Critchlow & Kukkonen used tailored methods to remove decades worth of soot, tobacco smoke and yellowed varnish from each painting.

Philippa Beesley, of Hull Maritime Museum, said it was difficult to choose just 30 works from 400, and said the restoration was a "huge investment" but would keep the artworks "in the best possible condition to tell their dramatic stories".

The works will eventually go on show again once the Maritime Museum opens after a major refurbishment in 2023.

  18. The Two Towers: Emley Moor questpublished at 07:47 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2019

It's exactly 50 years since the collapse of the Emley Moor TV mast.

    Collapsed tower

The original metal structure near Huddersfield, which was over 1,200ft high, crashed to the ground in 1969 after ice snapped support cables.

The collapse took Yorkshire Television off the air.

The current Emley Moor mast was built at a height of 1,084ft (330m) to replace the collapsed structure in 1971.

It provides digital TV and radio to over 1.9m households and 4.5m people and is the tallest free-standing building in the UK.

Last year a five-year upgrade plan for that tower began which will see a temporary TV transmitter erected on the site.

The new structure will be 1,040ft (317m) and used to transmit TV signals while work is carried out on the existing transmitter.

You can click on the film above to see a helicopter being used to build the temporary tower.
